Hi there. I am already well beyond the amount that has been accepted for other dates. Looking for 3* or better. Is there an event asside from the Seahawks game causing higher prices, or am I starting too soon? Thanks, and yes I am using your link.

Sorry to hear that your bids haven't been accepted. :(

Unfortunately, rates vary substantially by date - something may be going on on these dates. What have you bid up to so far (in terms of max bid/zone/star rating) and what would be your desired budget per night/star rating?

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Went up to $91 for Pike's Place. Then tried $56 for Space Needle. No good even though $51 was accpeted for a similar date. Wonder if there's anything major going on. How can I find out?

Even slightly different date/s can result in substantially different rates and inventory. May be a convention going on or a game? What would be your desired budget per night?

I will add that HOTWIRE has a 3.5* hotel in the Pike Place zone for $125/nite with Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet. While we have not yet seen a hotel reported to the board with this amenity set, this property is 100% recommended by previous HOTWIRE guests and gets very high ratings on all the criteria that HOTWIRE asks previous guests to rate. Not sure of your maximum budget, but this may be one to consider if you're willing to pay a bit more than you have already bid for a higher rated property (and some assurance that it is one of the better ones in the zone vs. 'any' 3* or better rated property)

If you want to continue bidding on PRICELINE let us know your maximum bid and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Also, it appears that you're willing to pay a bit of a premium to stay in the Pike Place zone vs. the Space Needle area... how much more is the Pike Place zone worth to you?

Yes there is a game but in most cities that's not enough to drive the prices up much. I will make a couple more tries for Space Needle before I settle for that 3.5* on Hotwire. $61 just rejected for 3* Space/Pike.

Sporting events certain can effect hotel rates in most cities... but with this noted rates for your dates are not that high. In the Pike Place zone HOTWIRE currently has a 4* hotel for $136 and a 3.5* for $110 so you may just need to bid a bit higher (although i'd also 'backtrack' your bids a bit and repeat some previously rejected bids)... if you let us know your maximum bid we will suggest a strategy for you to follow.

Also, are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* vs. a 3* OR is your goal the least expensive 3* or better for this trip?

Current rates in the Pike Place zone call for a bit more than $100 for a 4* and $70 for a 3* which are winning bids we typically see only at the slowest of times. You may be able to win a 3.5* in this zone at $100, or in the Space Needle zone with the parameters you posted, but currently i don't think your bidding limits are high enough for these dates. Alternately you could choose to wait it out and see if pricing improves in the next few weeks, but of course the risk that rates can move in the other direction and everything could be higher later.

Let us know what you ultimately do for this trip or how we can be of further help.

Good luck with your next round of bidding.

Are you familiar with, and using, your re-bid zones? If not, see Priceline Re-Bidding Explained, but if you're new to the subject it's highly recommended you ask for help and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before bidding.

I have time so not sure what the rebid zones will do for me. I assume that most other areas have no 4* hotels? Too many zones for me to research so perhaps someone could give a list. Also does it include 3.5*?

Tried Hotwire after getting shut out for $125 priceline. Took the $139 Hotwire offer but wound up with Silver Cloud Hotel up on Broadway. Tough bidding up in the Northwest. After tax, fees and trip insurance, 3 nights = $525.24

Congratulations on your success!

Given the higher than expected rates for the area for these dates, hope you're happy with the results.

Can you please add a reply to this thread confirming the star rating and include the amenities shown before your purchase... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.

Thank you for sharing your win with the board.

The star rating though me off as PRICELINE only had the Red Lion at 3.5. I made the mistake of not checking the 3.5s for Hotwire and wound up far from the action. Amenities weren't important to me but I will try to find them.
