Priceline Hotel: Oct 18-23 New York - budget travellers

Thanks for putting this site together. Great idea. Have been trying to get a hotel thru priceline for the last couple weeks. Have tried up to $165 on 3* to no avail. We are mostly interested in a hotel that is within 30 minutes by subway to times square. We are budget travelers. Don't need anything fancy but not a fan of sketchy neighborhoods. Would like to keep it max $150 if possible.

any bidding suggestions? Should I wait till the last minute? Does that make a difference?
