grunze Posted September 24, 2012 Report Posted September 24, 2012 Hi,The wife and I are coming to New Orleans for the first time from Dec. 15th - 21st.Budget should be under $100, but we just want to get the best bang for our buck in the French quarter or very close.Ideally something with a New Orleans flavor... rather that just an other sterile hotel. Any tips? Thanks!
thereuare Posted September 24, 2012 Report Posted September 24, 2012 Please start by following-up your previous Priceline NYC thread with whatever you ended up doing for that trip, then click each of these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links and reply to this post, we'll have a look at your trip above. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and your searches too! Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
grunze Posted September 24, 2012 Author Report Posted September 24, 2012 Thanks! My NYC post has been updated, and links clicked!
thereuare Posted September 25, 2012 Report Posted September 25, 2012 Ideally something with a New Orleans flavor... rather that just an other sterile hotel. With PRICELINE you can't bid on a specific type of hotel... only the minimum star rating and geographic location boundaries. You have to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone that meet the star rating and zone parameters you choose. With HOTWIRE you can try to identify the hotel before your purchase based upon the amenities and other information associated with the property and determine the type of hotel it is and if it would meet your needs for the 'character' you're looking for from this trip. The trade-off is that PRICELINE usually costs a little more than HOTWIRE, so you have to decide if lowest price or taking a guess as to the hotel is more important for your needs this trip....in the French quarter or very close. If you enter 'New Orleans' in the search box on the top right of this board (or in the BiddingHelper.com search box) which zone(s) are you willing to accept? Only the French Quarter or is Downtown also acceptable? OR did you want to go the HOTWIRE route? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
grunze Posted September 25, 2012 Author Report Posted September 25, 2012 Thanks! Either Hotwire or Priceline will be good for us. I like the 'ability' to figure out what the hotel is on Hotwire. We are only looking for French Quarter, but if there is a downtown hotel that we can identify as one on Canal street, which is the border between the French Quarter and Downtown, then that would be acceptable as well!
AaronJB Posted September 26, 2012 Report Posted September 26, 2012 Are you seeing any listings of interest within your desired budget range on HOTWIRE? If so, please provide the complete details of the listing: star rating, zone, price (in USD$ per night, before taxes/fees) and complete list of amenities showing with the listing.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
