javalog Posted September 24, 2012 Report Posted September 24, 2012 Hello, I and my wife decided to have a trip to San Francisco City for a duration of 3 nights. Dates are Oct 19 check in - Oct 22 check out.Our backup hotel is the Warwick San Francisco Hotel at a price of $767 in total for 3 nights. After reading some of your postings on the board, I tried to name my own price for those dates by selecting 3,5* Financial District, SOMA, USE, USW regionsI used your PRICELINE link on the board to name my own price on Priceline. Bid $140, rejected added re-bid zone Bid $145, rejected added re-bid zone... Bid $150, rejected added re-bid zone... Bid $155, rejected added re-bid zone... Bid $165, rejected added re-bid zone... Bid $170, rejected added re-bid zone... Bid $175, rejected added re-bid zone... Bid $180 rejected added re-bid zone...and rejected again... :-(Now we are trying to bid on a better San Francisco Hotel, maximum $180 per night. Can anyone suggest a strategy? Might we even be successful to make a win at this price, minimum 3,5*, preferred 4*?I would appreciate your help about bidding strategy.
thereuare Posted September 24, 2012 Report Posted September 24, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! To confirm you have already bid up to $180 for a 3.5* hotel, correct? Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. javalog Posted September 25, 2012 Author Report Posted September 25, 2012 yes, correct. I think there should be a congress on those dates.Prices are extremely high !
thereuare Posted September 25, 2012 Report Posted September 25, 2012 When you bid 3.5* that is the minimum star rating you are willing to accept... PRICELINE has already also checked for 4* rated hotels. Therefore if you have already bid up to your maximum then there isn't much else you can do other than:raise your maximum bidlower your star ratinginclude other alternate zonesSPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BIDwait it out and hope for lower prices in the weeks aheadUsing MAPS and HOTELS.com or BiddingHelper.com, what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel thru conventional booking channels? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. javalog Posted September 27, 2012 Author Report Posted September 27, 2012 I will try to split my bid. I hope I can succeed on it. Ordinary 2.5 star hotels demand more than 200usd per night during those days. (Hotels having low TripAdvisor points)I will keep you informed.
javalog Posted September 27, 2012 Author Report Posted September 27, 2012 Today I bidded up to $209 per night for 3.5 star ....no luck :-(

(Not PRICELINE :-( )Now I will try to bid for Los Angeles Hotels on the PRICELINE web site. I will open another topic for it to discuss.Thanks...
