Priceline Hotel: 4* Monterey Intercontinental Monterey The Clement

Need a little help.

Trying to get a 4* room in Monterey the weekend of 10/6 for my girl's bday. Priceline states median price is at $304 right now.

Yesterday I tried $110, $115, $120 & $125 adding the surround areas each time. Today I did $120, $130, $150 & finally $160.... all denied.

Am I screwed because it's only about two weeks away? What is the average max discount to be expected? 40%? Any and all advise is greatly appreciated!

The median rate often showed by PRICELINE is often not accurate and not a meaningful figure to use in determining a bidding strategy. Using BiddingHelper.com or MAPS and HOTELS.com, what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel for these dates?

Just got a Priceline hotel win at the Portola Hotel & Spa At Monterey Bay 4 star Monterey for 2 nts (10/14-10/16) for $115/nt.

I wound up winning with a $215 bid.  Not great but it was last minute and we had an awesome stay.
