BigEd238 Posted September 21, 2012 Report Posted September 21, 2012 Staying with wife and daughter in SAn Fran on Oct 11 - OCt 14th. Been reading boards here and trying to find 3* or higher room in Union Square East/West; Embarcadero/Financial District. Have bid all the way up to $200 and have not had a bid accepted. $200!!Form posts here seem like I am way over the average. Canlt figure out what I am doing wrong. Suggestions?
WindyCityHokie Posted September 21, 2012 Report Posted September 21, 2012 I am looking at same dates. If you've checked hotel websites, you'll see rates for those dates are $300+. I belive there is a big Deloitte convention in town through 10/12. That has a lot to do with it. I am considering breaking my requests into separate stays, 10/11, then another bid for remaining days. It might not be attractive to you because of being with your family and the good possibility you'll have to change hotels. I believe most convention people will check out 10/12, so rates will be better. The other option is to give it more time, hoping that hotels will come down on any rooms they're holding on to. Good luck. Don't forget to use the link from betterbidding when using PRICELINE!
AaronJB Posted September 21, 2012 Report Posted September 21, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. This is unfortunately an extremely busy period, due to the convention mentioned above. You're not doing anything wrong, unfortunately rates for these dates are quite high. What would be your desired budget per night for this stay, and would you be willing to switch hotels? Also, if you are more than 2 people, are you willing to risk getting one bed when using PRICELINE?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
BigEd238 Posted September 22, 2012 Author Report Posted September 22, 2012 Wasnt aware of convention. Bad timing on my part. I do like you idea to rbeak the trip up - we are road warriors so that wouldn't be that big a deal. Thanks for tip.
