big-m Posted September 17, 2012 Author Report Posted September 17, 2012 1) are you willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel OR is your goal the least expensive 3* or better for this trip?ANSWER: Yes - I'm willing to pay more ... want a nice hotel experience. What I'm seeing online are usually pretty fair to poor ratings unless you get in the $500+ range.2) are MTE and/or ESB also acceptable as thse are typically convenient for the average userANSWER: Sure, those areas would be OK. Since I have a mobility impairment, I'm looking for something convenient to transportation ... have even considered going across the river to Long Island City.
thereuare Posted September 17, 2012 Report Posted September 17, 2012 At the 4* level CPS, MTW, TS, HK, ESB and MTE should all be fine (although HK does get a bit west, although it would be a bit more convenient for your cruise), but at 3.5* there are some issues with MTE and CPS to note, so i would only start with 4* at the moment and if rejected post back before trying for a 3.5* property. When bidding 4* in NYC you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTE, CPS, MTW...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* TS, HK, ESB...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* TS, CPS, MTW...Bid $153, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $158, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $163, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, HK, ESB...Bid $153, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $158, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $163, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, HK, MTW...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $168, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $173, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* TS, CPS, ESB...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $168, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $173, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, CPS, ESB...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $178, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $183, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* TS, HK, MTW...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $178, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $183, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* CPS, MTW, TS, HK, ESB and MTE...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $188, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $193, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $198, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $200Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. big-m Posted September 21, 2012 Author Report Posted September 21, 2012 What are the chances of getting a 5* hotel (only shown in Times Square area) for under $300 (10/30 for 3 nights)? I know that in bidding 5* TS all of the other NY areas are available for re-bidding. Apparently PriceLine only has a 5* in TS.
thereuare Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 What are the chances of getting a 5* hotel (only shown in Times Square area) for under $300 (10/30 for 3 nights)?I would say very low... the only 5* hotel reported to the board in this zone has always been seen for over $300 and that is during the summer and winter months, which is low season. The chances of it going for less during one of the busiest times of year is very slim, imo. You can certainly try, but i'd be surprised if you won a 5* for under $300/nite.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
