Welcome to Betterbidding.

Please keep all posts regarding this stay within this thread, then we will move to the appropriate forum (PRICELINE or HOTWIRE) after the purchase is made.

Please provide the complete list of amenities showing with each HOTWIRE listing (scroll over see all) and we would be happy to take a look and try to ID. Would you rather push higher for a 4* or go for the most reasonable 3*?

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

The main thing I'm interested in is location. I'm going there for a vacation, so I would prefer to not have to take a taxi downtown every day/night. I noticed the Holiday Inn was a 3* that got chosen a lot and it appears that's a little outside of downtown.

Here are the two listings on Hotwire:

$188 4* Downtown Austin and Town Lake area hotel

Recommended in 85% of Hotwire customer reviews

Amenities: Indoor pool(s), Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessability, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower

$155 3* Downtown Austin and Town Lake area hotel

Recommended in 80% of Hotwire customer reviews

Amenities: Free parking, Airport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Laundry facilities (self-service), High-Speed Internet Access, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessability, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower

Thank you for the help! I'll be sure to use the Hotwire or PRICELINE link when I book the hotel!

Ended up using Priceline. I used 3.5*+ the entire time. Started at $120 in Downtown Austin, increased $10 every time (only 3 out of 11 Austin areas have 3.5*, so I added a new area that had 3* or lower every time), ended up getting the Intercontinental downtown at $175/night for 3 weekend nights. Looks like a perfect location for walking to all the downtown shops/restaurants.
