Priceline Hotel: 6 nights, 2 rooms in October

Hi all,

Looking to get 2 rooms in the city Oct 16 - 22. Preferably Midtown east or west, but acceptable areas include Empire State Building, Soho, Time Square, Central Park South or Upper East Side. Don't care too much about star count, so cheap for 2 stars is fine. Do you think $120 max for 2 stars is doable? Or what about $145 for 3 stars? If so, what would be a suitable bidding strategy?

Additionally, I've seen posts that recommend people close the browser, but what is this for? Priceline always recognizes me the next time by saying I've already placed a similar bid that day.

Thanks!

what do you think is likely price for a six night stay during mid-October, 2 rooms? We've gone up to $180 (albeit 3 stars) and still nothing. We've also done up to $150 in multiple zones for 2 stars.

Not sure if it will help, but is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option?

Is the Upper West Side accpetable? HOTWIRE has what appears to be the Days Hotel Broadway for $165/nite... would this work for your needs/budget? All other options look to be closer to the $200 area (give or take)
