Jaygray Posted September 18, 2012 Report Posted September 18, 2012 First post. Please forgive me if I omit any necessary info. I took the liberty of clicking the Priceline and HOTWIRE links provided.Looking to stay in NYC Manhattan October 3-7. 3.5* or better. Priceline hasn't been giving me what I've been hoping for I've bid up to $234. Hotwire lists a 3.5* condo in Central Park East for $256 a night. My bidding on Priceline is approaching that price with no success. I have been bidding south of Central Park only, hoping to stay closer to Mid-Town, however, the CPE Hotwire price is for a condo with a full kitchen. That's a plus, and might make up for being a little farther from the nightlife.Hotwire lists the amenities as:3.5-star Condo in Central Park EastThis Condo features the following amenities:Studio Fully-equipped Kitchen Air-Conditioning Fitness Center 24-hour Front Desk Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Free Internet Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible Accessible bathroom Condo Hoping someone can help ID this property. I'd like to nail down how many blocks it is to the nearest Green line Metro station. Thanks!Jason
AaronJB Posted September 18, 2012 Report Posted September 18, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding.Unfortunately, this listing has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board, but it gets terrific reviews - there is a 4.5/5 tripadvisor rating showing when I look at the detail page for this listing.Oddly, this only appears when searching for New York City, not NYC.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted September 20, 2012 Report Posted September 20, 2012 I have been bidding south of Central Park only...Exactly which zones, by PRICELINE name, and star rating have you been bidding? Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? And if you haven't yet, please read your messages.Thanks. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Jaygray Posted September 20, 2012 Author Report Posted September 20, 2012 Exactly which zones, by PRICELINE name, and star rating have you been bidding? Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option?I was looking to stay in mid-town bidding, Times Square, Midtown E & W, Central Park South. Gradually added Empire State, Chelsea & SoHo. Started at 4 stars, then 3.5. I thought about splitting the bid, but I'm comfortable waiting till the last minute, so that would become an option when the trip was about a week out.At any rate, on of the hotels on Hotwire dropped yesterday and I grabbed it. 3.5 stars. Empire State Area. $212. Turned out to be King & Grove (formerly Hotel Lola?), which I knew in advance thanks to the hotel list on your forum. Hotwire described it exactly as it was listed on the forum list. I'm afraid it will be a tiny room, but we won't complain for the price. Here's the odd thing--The rates were different depending on which browser I used. All morning, my Mac OS X Safari gave me the $212 price, but OS X Firefox was at $256. Just out of curiosity, I booted the PC and IE was at $212. Weird.
AaronJB Posted September 20, 2012 Report Posted September 20, 2012 Congrats on your success. :)Very nice deal for this well-located ESB property. Rooms are unfortunately likely to be small as they are at many NYC, but maybe the hotel may be willing to work with you on room assignment if you inquire at check-in. This used to be Thirtythirty, then was Lola and now is King and Grove. There have been a couple of negative reviews recently (which is to be expected with NYC prices the way they are), but the positive reviews seem pretty positive. Can you confirm the amenities that were showing with this listing? This information is available under the trip information in your HOTWIRE account.Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
Jaygray Posted September 21, 2012 Author Report Posted September 21, 2012 The amenities are just as listed on your Hotwire hotel list. Boutique Hotel, Restaurant(s), Laundry Facilities (self-service)
