Priceline Hotel: 4* New York City (Midtown East) W New York Hotel

Wow, here's some help for those who want to come to NYC in December. Tough month to book. I wanted the weekend of 12/7-12/9. Wanted to stay close to Midtown, around the shopping areas.

I first went from Midtown East, 4 starts, at $215, and broadened my area to Midtown West, then down to 3 1/2 stars, then Central Park South, Chelsea, Queensboro Bridge, and then Upper East Side, escalating my cost bracket up by $5 each time.

Finally got the W Hotel on Lex/49th (4 stars, Midtown East) for $245/night. On hotels.com it's listed for $399/night for that weekend. So I'm very happy.

I never went down to 3 stars (that's such a grab bag in NYC, w/ very small rooms at times).
