jmon22 Posted September 9, 2012 Report Posted September 9, 2012 I was looking at what I believe is the same hotel. Date from 10/29-11/1. $123/night. Amenities are:Boutique Hotel Smoke Free Rooms High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deafFree Breakfast Free Internet Accessible path of travel Any idea what this is? Thanks!!
AaronJB Posted September 9, 2012 Report Posted September 9, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. My guess would be the City Suites, Majestic or Willows, but the first two - I think - would be more likely. Just as a note, if you are not familiar with the city, it is a bit of a trek to get downtown from much of this zone (not terrible, but a trip on the "L" or bus.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

jmon22 Posted October 3, 2012 Author Report Posted October 3, 2012 Last question, then I will be purchasing through the site and reporting results..Changed Date to Oct 31st to Nov 3rd Need to decide between these 2 hotels..Magnificent Mile Area - River North area hotel for both4* $142 per nightBoutique Hotel Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower Or 3.5* $123 per nightFitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Any idea which either of these are? Which would be the better deal? Thanks!!
AaronJB Posted October 3, 2012 Report Posted October 3, 2012 The 4* would be a possible match for the Felix, Palomar or Sax - be willing to accept any of the 3, although I'd lean towards the Sax as being more likely. The 3.5* would be a possible match for the Doubletree. In terms of which is better, it really depends on what you're looking for - are you going to be in the room a lot or are you just looking for a place to sleep?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
jmon22 Posted October 3, 2012 Author Report Posted October 3, 2012 Yeah it looks like the 3.5 is definately the Doubletree based on another thread. I want the nicest place possible as it is for a low key honeymoon trip, but it worries me that the 3.5 star has better reviews than the 4 star.
AaronJB Posted October 3, 2012 Report Posted October 3, 2012 The Doubletree is showing for $99 when searching for 10/31-11/2 only. Not optimal, but you could switch to another property for the last night. The new Ivy Boutique Hotel (which has gotten mostly terrific reviews on Tripadvisor) up the street is $199 on Expedia for 11/2-3 and that hotel is a couple of blocks away. The average of that would be $132 a night. Or you could go for a different HOTWIRE listing for the last night. Just throwing out ideas. As for the Sax/Palomar/Felix (although likely Sax possibility), the Sax gets very mixed reviews (some people like it quite a bit, some don't), the Felix has gotten fairly negative reviews and the Palomar (which I don't think this is, unfortunately) has gotten excellent reviews. The Doubletree is a above-average Doubletree, but nothing unusual or unexpected. Satisfactory, solid property in a very pleasant location.Thank you for using the site's Expedia, HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
jmon22 Posted October 3, 2012 Author Report Posted October 3, 2012 Ended up going with the 4*. Didn't want to change hotels. You are correct it was the Sax. Thanks for all of your help!!
AaronJB Posted October 3, 2012 Report Posted October 3, 2012 Congrats on your success. Nice deal for this property, which is right near a wide variety of restaurants in the River North area. Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay and have a wonderful honeymoon. :)
