James B. Lee Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 Hi, I heard about priceline and betterbidding from a friend. I've new to the forum and never used priceline before. I'd really appreciate some help/tips for bids on priceline.I'll be staying in NYC for 4 nights Sep 23 - Sep 26. I just need one room. I would like to find the least expensive 3* or 3.5* hotel in either Soho-Tribeca or Chelsea area. I heard there's a trick to avoid the 24-hr bidding penalty on priceline. I'm just wondering how much should I be bidding and how should I do it? Any help/tips would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.James
thereuare Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding... and a 'thank you' to your friend for referring you here! :)If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages. Then please confirm the following:I'll be staying in NYC for 4 nights Sep 23 - Sep 26.This would be a 3 nite stay... or is your check-out date Sept 27th?I would like to find the least expensive 3* or 3.5* hotel in either Soho-Tribeca or Chelsea area.Did you want to try for a 3.5* first up to your bidding limit OR is your goal the least expensive 3* or better for this trip? So we don't suggest a strategy that goes higher then you're willing to pay, what is your maximum bid for this trip?Let us know the above and we'll take a closer look at rates for your dates. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. James B. Lee Posted September 12, 2012 Author Report Posted September 12, 2012 No, my check-out date is Sep 27th. 4 nights stay.I think I'd like the least expensive 3* in those two areas. I'm not sure about budget or max - $150 per maybe / can be a bit more it depends. Thanks so much for your help, thereuare.
thereuare Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 At current rates i don't think $150 will be enough, but we can try and if/when rejected take it from there. To give a try...When bidding 3* in NYC you have ONE re-bid zone. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3* Soho-Tribeca...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Chelsea...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Soho-Tribeca and Chelsea...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130If the above is rejected wait 24 hours from your last bid and once again access use this link to access PRICELINE...Select 3* Soho-Tribeca...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Chelsea...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Soho-Tribeca and Chelsea...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. James B. Lee Posted September 13, 2012 Author Report Posted September 13, 2012 Thank you, sir. I'm going to give this a try tonight. I read your post regarding the re-bid zone. Explanation is pretty clear. I think I got it. Is the zone waaaay south? :)
