How many people is this for? The New Yorker Hotel is $305 on Expedia and that offers free cancellation (although double check) - if it offered free cancellation, you could book that and then change if something better came along.

Probably rather comparable to the Roosevelt above, although the New Yorker does get a mildly better review average overall, and if the New Yorker allows for free cancellation (double check the fine print), that would allow flexibility.

The New Yorker used to get poor reviews but it was re-done about 2-3 years ago and since then the reviews have been mostly favorable, although room size can still be the case with many NYC hotels. I wouldn't call it luxurious, but it is a historic landmark property, with a good location.

Thanks for the info. I did notice that New Yorker was on the bed bug registry back in 2011 but not in 2012 based on reviews. Hence I was a bit reluctant to consider New Yorker.
