Northern Ontario Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 I am going to try bidding on a room in toronto for this upcoming weekend. September 15th, one night only. It is for my family, me, husband, 2 kids. We are hoping to stay in downtown toronto, and the prices seem to be extremely high (I believe due to TIFF). I was hoping to stay under $130.00 for the one night.I think the better route would be going through priceline as hotwire still seems very high for a 3+ and above hotel room. The problems are as follows: my family would like a pool. I don't think we can get that through priceline correct? As well, I don't think I can specify 4 people in the room. Will I get charged extra for the kids when I get there? do all hotels allow kids..lol? Do you have any ideas on how I should approach this bidding process? I thought about only bidding on a 3+ hotel in ..south downtown, as I figured I might get the chelsea. Is that the only hotel with 3+ in that zone? I know this is alot of questions, but I am running out of time..
thereuare Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request (or there could be an additional fee involved). Is this a risk you're willing to accept? If not, HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Also, please update your Priceline San Juan thread with your decision and/or current thoughts for that trip. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Thanks. Northern Ontario Posted September 12, 2012 Author Report Posted September 12, 2012 Well like I said, I would like to go with priceline because it is alot cheaper than hotwire is right now. If the kids need to sleep on their blowup beds, they won't mind. Have you ever heard of anyone getting charged extra for children? And yes, I am still keeping an eye on San Juan. The prices have gone down a bit, almost time to make a move.

Northern Ontario Posted September 21, 2012 Author Report Posted September 21, 2012 We bid on PRICELINE and I hopefully got a deal.I had tried 4* downtown south, $95.00 ...They countered and said that if I added $33.00 I could get the room.I tried to enter $110.00, and it was rejected, and said I could only bid $128.00 in order to get the room.Being we are travelling tomorrow, and I had tried previously going up to $110.00 bidding, I decided to accept that offer. Its still much better than paying $255.00!
thereuare Posted September 22, 2012 Report Posted September 22, 2012 Congratulations on your success!Glad to see you received a nice deal for this trip. Can you please add a reply to this thread confirming this was just a one nite stay of 9/22 and also include the hotel name so we can add this information to the topic title. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Thanks.
