mgm1001001 Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 Looks like a good price on a 4.5 star Disney Main Gate Resort, but can't tell if it matches the Omni or the Gaylord as the amenities don't quite fit either as listed in the Hotels.com list on this website.Amenities:ResortPool(s)High Speed Internet AccessSpa ServicesFree InternetWheelchair AccessibleRoll-in ShowerSmoke Free RoomsRestaurant(s)Golf NearbyAccessible For the BlindAccessible Path of TravelAccessible bathroomFitness CenterBusiness CenterTennis NearbyAccessible for the DeafIn-room AccesibilityHandicapped ParkingAny way to determine which resort? The Gaylord would be a much better bargain, at this rate, of course. Thanks*I used the HOTWIRE link from this website to do the search.*
thereuare Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 I would slightly favor this one being the Omni, but you should at least be prepared for either. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. mgm1001001 Posted September 12, 2012 Author Report Posted September 12, 2012 I think, most likely you're correct that it's the Omni.Is it possible that the Gaylord is back to 4* and no longer lists "Resort" in the amenities? I'm asking, because there only other 4* and higher hotel in the area is showing as $142/night. It's amenities are similar, but when you click on the details, you see that it charges a resort fee of about $15/night.The 4 1/2* shows a similar charge, but says it's about $20/night.From my other research, the Omni has an $18/night resort fee while the Gaylord has a $16/night resort fee, so it seems logical that the Omni is the cheaper hotel coming up on Hotwire. If I change my tactics and use Priceline to bid on resorts in same area, do you have suggestions for a reasonable bid? I see that the Gaylord has been taken for as low as $45.Thanks!

I'm asking, because there only other 4* and higher hotel in the area is showing as $142/night.Sure it's possible, but that's more than one assumption you're making (both a downgrade and a change in amenity set)... the more it doesn't match previous reports the more likely it is some other property. HOTWIRE only shows one hotel per star rating per zone, so the fact that there is 'only other 4* and higher hotel in the area' isn't very meaningful since this would be expected. From my other research, the Omni has an $18/night resort fee while the Gaylord has a $16/night resort fee, so it seems logical that the Omni is the cheaper hotel coming up on Hotwire.I think you're reading too much into this... HOTWIRE would usually list each of these at $20 as they tend to be conservative on their resort fees and round up (rather than down) so that users are paying less then they were told.If I change my tactics and use Priceline to bid on resorts in same area, do you have suggestions for a reasonable bid? I see that the Gaylord has been taken for as low as $45.Probably somewhere in the $60-$75 area, but if bidding the Resort level you'll have TWELVE re-bid zones so plenty of opportunity to start low and bid as high as you'd like. If you're ready to give PRICELINE a try let us know your maximum bid for this stay we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. mgm1001001 Posted September 13, 2012 Author Report Posted September 13, 2012 I ended up trying PRICELINE (using the Better Bidding links, of course) and starting at $45. I went up in increments of $45, but I was determined to stop before I hit $75 because it looks like it looks like I can get that price via Priceline Express.By using rebid zones and increments of $5 or $6, I was able to get the Omni Orlando Resort for $71 for this period. Thanks for your help.
