skippy1979 Posted September 10, 2012 Report Posted September 10, 2012 First off, I was only bidding in the Gaslamp Quarter - Convention Center area, which from my understanding is a new zone. So the City Zone above should read accordingly but I wasn't able to pick that zone yet. Is it because it is such a new zone? I started bidding from $80.00 and used 11 re-bid zones. The offer was finally accepted at $121.00 for the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego. I saw that somebody else had previously won a bid for this hotel for $111.00 on the same weekend so it was the property I was expecting. I paid a little more than I thought I would have to, but I"m still happy with the price. The same area on Hotwire was going for $141.00 a night. Thanks for all the info!
thereuare Posted September 11, 2012 Report Posted September 11, 2012 Congratulations on your success! While a bit more than you originally thought it would take for these dates, glad to see you're pleased with the results. The "Gaslamp Quarter - Convention Center" is a new zone for PRICELINE. We are currently working on some changes on the backend of the board and once that is completed we will update any new zones and re-categorize the hotels within the region to reflect their current zone location. At that point the auto-suggest feature on the posting form will reflect the updated locations.Thank you for sharing your win with the board. skippy1979 Posted September 11, 2012 Author Report Posted September 11, 2012 I’m pretty sure I know the answer to this already, but I’m going to try anyways…There is no way to get out of this reservation correct? I just saw that hotwire today has a 4* hotel in the Gaslamp Quarter North-Horton Plaza for the same days for $81.00 per night for the same nights. I’m pretty sure I’m S.O.L . but was worth trying to find out to save $40.00 a night. Anything I can do with the Big Deal Guarantee? Please let me know if there is anything that can be done….Thanks
thereuare Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 Only way is if the hotel is downgraded or if this hotel doesn't offer one of the 'guaranteed amenities' (if any were shown before your purchase)... otherwise PRICELINE reservations are non-refundable.
