I'm going to NYC for the first time in December (12/12 - 12/25) with my wife.

My areas of preference are:

1º - Upper East Side

2º - Upper West Side

3º - Central Park South

4º - Midtown East

5º - Midtown West

6º - Times Square

7º - Madison Square Garden

8º - Empire State

9º - Chelsea Area

10º - SoHo

I would pay $ 80, but can reach $ 100.

Accepted hotels to 2 star.

Do you think I should already start giving bids or wait a bit more for a date yet to be distant?

What would be your desired star rating for these dates? Part of this period (until around 12/15-16) is among one of the busiest of the year. The period after that until around 12/25 is slower, but $100 being accepted is unlikely going to be enough for these dates.

Finally, is anywhere in Upper East/Upper West acceptable? These areas go pretty far up.
