ElPal Posted September 9, 2012 Report Posted September 9, 2012 I have,as always, used your HOTWIRE links for this researchThere is only one 5* hotel in Innsbruck so I know that the 5* HOTWIRE hot deal is for that property: Grand Hotel Europa. The problem is that the total price for the Hotwire hot Deal including tax recovery charges & fees is $213.64 - the room rate is $180 per night. The retail rate on HOTWIRE is $209.94 so actually cheaper than the total price for the hot Rate property. However, I looked at the T&Cs for the Hotwire Low Price Guarantee state that when "factoring in tax recovery charges and fees, we do not guarantee that the total amount you pay Hotwire will be lower than the total amount you might pay elsewhere."Funny thing is that it isn't even "elsewhere" that I have seen the lower price for the hotel in question - it is on the HOTWIRE site itself!Anyone else had this experience? Has anyone been able to get HOTWIRE to give them a better rate given the total for the hot rate is not that hot when compared with the total on the retail rate?
thereuare Posted September 9, 2012 Report Posted September 9, 2012 Why not just buy the retail rate? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
ElPal Posted September 9, 2012 Author Report Posted September 9, 2012 Of course I could do that but was moreso wondering if anyone else had seen this before?
AaronJB Posted September 10, 2012 Report Posted September 10, 2012 It has been seen on occasion, which is why HOTWIRE has a best rate guarantee.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
ElPal Posted October 17, 2012 Author Report Posted October 17, 2012 I noticed a few days ago that the hot Rate hotel has all the same features as before (so is the same hotel) but did end up reducing the price to be $30 less per night. However, we decided to go ahead and book the Hilton Innsbruck through its own website using your link at 92EUR per night (non-refundable and no breakfast) as we are only going to be in the hotel from about 10pm at night til about 9am the next morning so thought there was not much point paying a significant amount more if we aren't going to be there to enjoy it.Thanks as always for your assistance.
