ramosz83 Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 Looking to book 2 nights in Chicago at a 4* in either millennium park or north Michigan ave on 9/28 - 9/30. I am new to priceline bidding and have no idea what to bid? I assume the prices are date dependent but have no idea where to bid. I just bid $70/night for the two areas and got denied? Anybody have any advice or experience?Daniel
AaronJB Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Please provide your desired budget per night for this stay and we would be happy to offer suggestions. Unfortunately, these are busy dates and a 4* may - given regular rates and what HOTWIRE is showing - take $150-200.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

ramosz83 Posted September 9, 2012 Author Report Posted September 9, 2012 So I tried $100 and got denied. Rebid at $115 and also got rejected. As for my budget...I probably wouldn't want to pay more than $150/night for these rooms. And I did use the links provided :)Daniel
thereuare Posted September 9, 2012 Report Posted September 9, 2012 While i think you have a good chance at succeeding near your $150 maximum bid, i'll also add that HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the Loop zone for $108 which i'm guessing is the Hotel Allegro, which is 3.5* on PRICELINE... any interest in the Hotel Allegro at this price OR do you prefer to bid higher for a 4* hotel on PRICELINE? Are you familiar with and using your re-bid zones? (there are SIX re-bid zones when bidding 4* in Chicago... feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board)Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. ramosz83 Posted September 10, 2012 Author Report Posted September 10, 2012 I am not stuck on specifically a 4*, I am however happy with any of the 4* hotels on the PRICELINE list in that area. I am definitely willing to try other hotels. I will see if I can try the HOTWIRE bid at 4* around that price. Daniel
ramosz83 Posted September 10, 2012 Author Report Posted September 10, 2012 I could use some help trying to figure out how to find the $108 price on hotwire. I haven't used HOTWIRE before and was looking at hotwire hotdeals for the loop-theater district but they were around $200+. I assume I am looking in the wrong area of the site though. Any help is recommended.Daniel
AaronJB Posted September 10, 2012 Report Posted September 10, 2012 I'm seeing the potential Allegro for 9/28-29 only; $108 - 4* Loop/Theater District Boutique Hotel Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible bathroom Roll-in shower I'm then seeing a 4* for $168 for 9/29-30 when viewed separately in the same Loop zone. My guess for this is the W City Center. While switching hotels is not optimal, the first night does look somewhat less busy than the second and that's leading to this option being a lower per night average than if you look up both nights together. The lowest option at the 4* level in this zone when you look up both nights together is $227. If you took the potential Allegro for night one and the potential W for night two, the per night average would be $138 (although the prices you see may differ slightly.)Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible Accessible bathroom Roll-in shower Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted September 11, 2012 Report Posted September 11, 2012 I assume I am looking in the wrong area of the site though. When viewing the offerings make sure the RED tab 'Hotwire hot Rates' is selected (and NOT the blue tab 'More Hotels')Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Thanks.
