Priceline Hotel: Need help for bidding on 4*downtown 10/20-23

I was wondering if you might be able to give me some suggestions on bidding for a 4* hotel in downtown area Chicago for 10/20-23/12? We will need 2 rooms, as we are traveling with the Grandma's, but prices seem higher now than when we usually bid. Do you think we should wait till closer to the date? Thanks!

Wow, thanks so much for your help! Actually, we didn't go through either PRICELINE or HOTWIRE for that trip, and since our baby we haven't traveled at all, so I have no new info to add. That's why I was asking for some guidance on this trip.

If you went through a different service for that trip, it would still be appreciated if you could share any information, as it may help others.

In terms of Chicago, unfortunately many patches of September, October and November (as well as around the first half of December) are busy with business travel and conventions, as well as other events (such as the Marathon) and holiday shopping later in the period.

Things can always change, but given how this period traditionally is, there is the risk of rates staying similar or rising if you wait. What would be your desired budget per night, and how many people will be in each room?
