cutehinano Posted September 6, 2012 Report Posted September 6, 2012 Hi there,I am looking to get a 5* hotel in Singapore in the bugis area for Oct 9-12. I have tried to bid $100usd and got rejected. My max price is $175 per night. I wasn't able to find a lot of recent wins for Singapore but would appreciate any help from folks on the board. Thanks!
thereuare Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 We have seen wins in this area starting at $135/nite and as high as $190/nite... what is your maximum bid for this trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. cutehinano Posted September 7, 2012 Author Report Posted September 7, 2012 Hi there,My max bid is $175. Tried $110 last night and rejected.Any advice is greatly appreciated.
thereuare Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 When bidding 5* in Singapore you have THREE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 5* Burgis...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 5* Burgis and re-bid zone3...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $145If the above is rejected wait 24 hours and try the following, once again use this PRICELINE link to begin your bidding:Select 5* Burgis...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $160, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 5* Burgis and re-bid zone3...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $175Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. cutehinano Posted September 8, 2012 Author Report Posted September 8, 2012 Thank you! How do I figure out what the rebid zones are? Is it based on the priceline hotel list on betterbidding? I don't want to risk accidentally getting a 5* hotel in a far location. If I didn't use the rebids can I use the same strategy but spread it out on multiple days or is that different? Thanks so much - still very new to this.
thereuare Posted September 9, 2012 Report Posted September 9, 2012 How do I figure out what the rebid zones are? Is it based on the priceline hotel list on betterbidding?NO!!!See Priceline Re-Bidding Explained. If you've already read this thread and are still confused try the following:1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter 'Singapore' and your dates, and click "GO".2) List each zone that is offered in this region. 3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest star rating offered in the zone is by selecting the first zone i the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. Each time you take note of the highest star rating in the zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected above.4) post your findings and we'll take it from thereIf you don't follow the above just post back and we'll break it down further. If I didn't use the rebids can I use the same strategy but spread it out on multiple days or is that different? You could and the strategy would be slightly different, but you then run a greater chance of an overbid should a lower rate be offered by a hotel during the course of your 'one bid per day' strategy. With some time on your side i would sooner suggest you ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board and get comfortable with the concept and implementation, as it will also help with any future bidding you do in other areas. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
