jflugaur Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 I am wondering what a realistic price to bid on a 3.5* or higher in the Loop or River North area from 10/12-10/14 would be?
AaronJB Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)I'd personally recommend the 3.5* properties in the River North area over the 3.5*'s in the Loop, but you're likely looking in the $110/115-140 area for a 3.5*, with the Loop 3.5*'s likely being moderately cheaper (more towards the lower end of that range) than the NMA area. What would be your desired budget per night?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
jflugaur Posted September 5, 2012 Author Report Posted September 5, 2012 I would like to be under $120 a night if possible. Any ideas on which 3.5* hotels are most commonly handed out in the River North area?
AaronJB Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 The hotels that have been reported to the board on PRICELINE in Chicago are listed on this page: Priceline Hotel List Illinois. If bidding in the 3.5* River North-NMA area, there is the possibility of any of the 3.5* properties or being upgraded to a 4*. I'd start at $110 and move higher by $5's at the 3.5* level in either zone, although again, I would recommend the 3.5* level in the River North-NMA area more highly.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
jflugaur Posted September 6, 2012 Author Report Posted September 6, 2012 Thanks for the advice and I will let you know what it get!

jflugaur Posted September 6, 2012 Author Report Posted September 6, 2012 Right now I am at 3.5* River North $110 denied, I am waiting to go up in price

jflugaur Posted September 7, 2012 Author Report Posted September 7, 2012 $115 for 3.5* also denied...not sure how much higher I want to go as I can get the Hyatt Regency with parking for $225 a night on Expedia. I was hoping I could a room at Embassy Suites cheap through here since its a 3.5
jflugaur Posted September 7, 2012 Author Report Posted September 7, 2012 Tried $125 as well and no deal....
jflugaur Posted September 7, 2012 Author Report Posted September 7, 2012 $130 no as well :( Just about ready to give up
thereuare Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 $130 no as well :( Just about ready to give upI think you can do better than your $225 rate including parking, but at bids of $130 you're still $100 away from your back-up plan... and certainly the value of free parking isn't $100/nite. Are you willing to bid higher than $130/nite? How much are you estimating the cost of parking if you were to win something on PRICELINE or HOTWIRE?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. AaronJB Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 I think you're likely very close to a 3.5* win ($135-140), but there's also a 4* in the Mag Mile-River North area for $162,w/indoor pool, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Spa - which would be a possible match for the W Lakeshore. You could then park a couple minutes walk away at Navy Pier for around $20-25.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
jflugaur Posted September 8, 2012 Author Report Posted September 8, 2012 Success! Bid on a 3.5* in River North/Mag Mile for $150 and got the W Hotel Lakeshore! Never stayed there before but it seems like a nice hotel.
AaronJB Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 Congrats on your success. :)Terrific deal for this W property (the service upgraded your 3.5* bid to 4*), which is right across Lake Shore Drive from the Lake. Glad you are pleased with the result. Navy Pier, which is a couple of minutes walk away, would be a cheaper parking option. You may want to see if you can request a high floor. Lakeview is a paid upgrade at this property, but if you could get a high floor in the other direction, you may get a nice view of the city/surrounding area.Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
jflugaur Posted September 8, 2012 Author Report Posted September 8, 2012 Is the parking at Navy Pier overnight? I see that it's only 25 instead of the $53 at the hotel.
AaronJB Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 I haven't parked there, but under the FAQ: "37. I'm attending a meeting/show at Navy Pier. Can I park overnight? The Navy Pier Parking Garage is open 24 hours. After 24 hours you will be charged an additional $21 (weekdays) or $25 (weekends)."http://www.navypier.com/visit_us/faqs.htmlLet us know if you have any city questions, as well.
