Kam14Mich17 Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 Hi I am bidding on a 4 star in either the millennium park or north mich ave areas. There is an industrial convention during the Thursday night we are there. Should we bid Thursday separate from the Friday through Monday stay since prices drop Friday? Also, what is a good range for bidding? I have checked hotwire (mag mile 186 and loop 183, Priceline (median 320 and 296), Expedia (millennium park 228), and lastminutetravel (loop 192 believe palmer house and downtown 169 believe hard rock) never used lmt but wanted to check pricing with it. These prices all reflect placing a bid from thursday through monday. I am meeting family who will be staying at the the Felix. Where should I begin bidding and what type of increments should I increase by?
AaronJB Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. The issue with LMT is that it may show a price, but is that price actually listed as available or "On Request"? If it's a busy period, there's a definite chance that they will not be able to get the rate listed as "on request".The period is expensive, although the 15th-17th is moderately better than the 13th-15 - I'm seeing what appears to be the Palmer House for $110 for the 15th-17th, for example. However, the issue is the 13th-15th, where the cheapest downtown HOTWIRE listing is a 3* for $238. The cheapest I'm seeing for the entire period on HOTWIRE is $227 for what appears to be the Hyatt on Wacker; are you seeing listings for $186 and $183 on HOTWIRE when searching for 9/13-17?What would be your desired max budget per night for this stay? Are you interested in both the Millennium Park-Loop-GP and River North-NMA areas? The Felix is in NMA, but with how busy these dates are, I'd definitely consider either area.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Kam14Mich17 Posted September 4, 2012 Author Report Posted September 4, 2012 My mistake the hotwire prices were for the 14th - 17th. Good to know about LMT and yes both the Palmer House and Hard Rock are on Request for them if those are the right hotels. I am open to bidding on both areas loop and NMA. Realistically I would like to keep it below $200, but prefer be closer to $150 or less. I am open to bidding 9/14 - 9/17 at the downtown areas and either staying closer to the airport when I fly in the night of 9/13 or try a different hotel for 9/13 (maybe not a 4* that night). If that will be helpful in achieving the lower bid. This link has the 14th-17th hotels and description: <dead link removed>What do you think is the best approach? Thanks

Kam14Mich17 Posted September 6, 2012 Author Report Posted September 6, 2012 Sorry about the link...I was trying to show that it was available at a lower price friday through monday rather than adding thursday. I have bid up to $180 and not won on a Thursday through Monday stay. How should I go about handling the bidding? I know some comparisons would be 289.25 per night Whitehall Hotel, 259 per night Hyatt Regency, and 267.20 per night Hotel Felix.
AaronJB Posted September 6, 2012 Report Posted September 6, 2012 I see what appears to be the Allerton on HOTWIRE for $162. I also see what appears to be the Ivy for $202 on HOTWIRE and Intercontinental for $214. Would any of these be of interest?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Kam14Mich17 Posted September 9, 2012 Author Report Posted September 9, 2012 The Ivy and Intercontinental would definitely be of interest...I've heard some negative reviews about allerton per PRICELINE wins.
thereuare Posted September 10, 2012 Report Posted September 10, 2012 AaronJB can correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe the Ivy and InterContinental are only available if searching for 9/14-9/17, with just a few days before your check-in are you ready to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID and/or commit to a purchase for these dates now? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. AaronJB Posted September 10, 2012 Report Posted September 10, 2012 If you are flying in later in the evening of 9/13, I'd consider staying by the airport. For 9/14-17, I'm seeing for $217:4.5* Mag Mile N-WT: Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business - Likely Ivy4.5* Mag Mile-RN: Restaurant, Pool, Indoor Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower $232 - likely IntercontinentalFor 9/15-17:I'm seeing:4* Mag Mile N-WT: Restaurant, Pool, Indoor Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business $115 - likely Hyatt Mag Mile4* Loop-Theater $110 - Restaurant, Pool, Indoor Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Spa, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower - likely PalmerFor 9/14-15:I'm seeing 4.5* Mag Mile N-WT $242: Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business - Likely Ivy----It's certainly not optimal from a changing hotel standpoint, but you could do:For 9/14-15:I'm seeing 4.5* Mag Mile N-WT $242: Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business - Likely IvyFor 9/15-17:4* Mag Mile N-WT: Restaurant, Pool, Indoor Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business $115 - likely Hyatt Mag MileThe per-night average of that would be about $157 and change. If those hotels are the Ivy and Hyatt Mag Mile, those two properties are essentially around the corner from one another. The Ivy for all 3 nights is certainly an option, but just wanted to offer the combo idea, which would save about $179 (total across 3 nights) versus just staying at the Ivy for all 3.Let us know your thoughts and if you have any questions before booking.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Kam14Mich17 Posted September 11, 2012 Author Report Posted September 11, 2012 Had to adjust dates won Felix for 175 Friday thru Monday still need a hotel for Thursday night 9/13. Will be flying into midway and would be willing to stay in that area in hotel close to the airport if they shuttle that's a plus. Would prefer 3* or better but for one night and a lower price would go lower with * rating as long as it is clean
