irm Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 HI,i need help on a bidding strategy for a couple (on honeymoon) in New York. Looking for 3* or better in great location. Willing to spend up to $220.00 a nightDates: Sept 17-22Locations: TS, MTW, ESB or MSG Looking for the best hotel for less than $220 a night and in a central location for honeymooners' first time in new york. Thanks
irm Posted September 5, 2012 Author Report Posted September 5, 2012 HI, considering that the hotels seem to be expensive at this time of year, we are also including MTE.
thereuare Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 Note that when bidding 3.5* and lower, MTE has some 'known' hotels can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway... is this acceptable? Also, did you want to try for a 3.5* first up to your limit OR is the goal the least expensive 3* or better for this trip?Let us know the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. irm Posted September 5, 2012 Author Report Posted September 5, 2012 Note that when bidding 3.5* and lower, MTE has some 'known' hotels can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway... is this acceptable?no. I will leave mte off, for now. however, if the strategy fails, i will add mte as the couple comes from a big city and are familiar with having to walk long distances. i once won the barclay intercontinental and that was a nice option. Also, did you want to try for a 3.5* first up to your limit OR is the goal the least expensive 3* or better for this trip?since they are on a honeymoon i will first try for a 3.5* up to the limit (the limit is $250 including taxes). Then if that does not work, then the least expensive 3* or above. A 3* in a great area would be good.

irm Posted March 10, 2017 Author Report Posted March 10, 2017 The bidding strategy did not work for us and was time consuming. The couple decided to book through a traditional booking site.
