Andre LeBlanc Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 Hello there, this is my first post to this site. I've been doing some reading and hopefully I do this correctly. I'm looking for a 3.5-4* hotel in the San Fran area, I'm open on the region, the dates are 9/28-10/2 (4 nights) and I'm looking at a max of $130 per night. If I missed any information let me know and I'll supply it. Andy
thereuare Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding!Rates 'downtown' are extremely expensive for these dates... are the airport zones acceptable? (if so, are both airport zones, North and/or South, acceptable)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Andre LeBlanc Posted September 5, 2012 Author Report Posted September 5, 2012 Yeah, I suppose they are. If I could get a 4* in Palo Alto, or Something a little further south of SF, I would accept that as well, but I didn't mention that as this is the SF forum. p.s. my wife is a UMICH alumn (GO BLUE!)

As you can't bid Palo Alto and the SFO zones at the same time, which would be your preference to try for first?p.s. my wife is a UMICH alumn (GO BLUE!)GO BLUE!!Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. Andre LeBlanc Posted September 6, 2012 Author Report Posted September 6, 2012 I'd say that we can go with SFO first.
thereuare Posted September 6, 2012 Report Posted September 6, 2012 Sorry, a few more questions...Did you want to first try for a 4* property up to your limit OR do you prefer the least expensive 3.5* or better for this trip? Which other zones are acceptable... while i don't think you're budget will be enough for a hotel 'downtown', if other zones are acceptable we can at least use them as pseudo re-bid zones in order to have extra bidding opportunities (but you should be willing to stay in any downtown zones you're willing to add if by some luck/mistake you win a hotel in that zone)Let us know the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Andre LeBlanc Posted September 6, 2012 Author Report Posted September 6, 2012 Ok, no problem. Let's try for the 4* first. I'm willing to accept any zone in the SF area, including the airport, particularly if they can be used for re-bid zones. Sound good? If this doesn't work, we can always fall back to the 3.5* strategy, correct?
thereuare Posted September 6, 2012 Report Posted September 6, 2012 At the 4* level you have SEVEN 'true' re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. We will also use USE, USW and Financial/Embarcadero as pseudo re-bid zones assuming that all of these are acceptable as well.Select 4* SFO-Burlingame...Bid $75, if rejected add Financial/Embarcadero...Bid $80, if rejected add USW...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $93, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $98, if rejected add re-bid zone5...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone6...Bid $103, if rejected add re-bid zone7...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* SFO-Burlingame and USE...Bid $108, if rejected add Financial/Embarcadero...Bid $110, if rejected add USW...Bid $113, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $118, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $123, if rejected add re-bid zone5...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone6...Bid $128, if rejected add re-bid zone7...Bid $130Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Andre LeBlanc Posted September 6, 2012 Author Report Posted September 6, 2012 I read the re-bidding post and I understand the mechanics of it. With regards to the "re-bid zone(s)" should I assume the i just need to add one additional zone per rebid and that its not critical in which order? I wasn't able to find a list.
thereuare Posted September 6, 2012 Report Posted September 6, 2012 Yes, that's correct, the order does not matter. Just write down your re-bid zones on the piece of paper and when it states:re-bid zone1 --> the first re-bid zone in your listre-bid zoen2 --> the second re-bid zone in your listre-bid zone3 --> the third re-bid zone in your listetc, etc, etcJust before you start make sure you only have found SEVEN re-bid zones (confirm them with the board if you'd like) and although i think you understand i'll state for clarity that re-bid zone1 is NOT the same as the first zone in PRICELINE's list of zones, re-bid zone2 is NOT the same as the second zone in PRICELINE's list of zones, etc, etc. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
