Priceline Hotel: Miami vs Miami Beach

I'm working in Miami TH & FR this week. Working in downtown. Wondering if anyone knows if the commute is a nightmare from Miami Beach into downtown. Staying at the beach would be nice if the commute is OK. Thanks.

I've only done it once, but it was a bumper-to-bumper stop&go zoo.
