MadrilenoJoe Posted September 3, 2012 Report Posted September 3, 2012 Hi, first time bidder (from the UK) though not first time in New York, I think I get the strategy as in adding areas without required star rated hotels etc. Not really fussy, any area below Columbus Circle would be good, we are just looking for a bargain ($200 max, 3.5 or 4) and want to know the best way to get this, what level to start at, when is it the best time to bid, now, or with a week to go etc etc......any help appreciated!
thereuare Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you enter 'New York City, NY' into the search box on the top right of the board, which zones, by PRICELINE name, are you willing to accept? In your topic title you mention Williamsburg, is this an acceptable area as well? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. MadrilenoJoe Posted September 4, 2012 Author Report Posted September 4, 2012 Hi, thanks! We would take 3.5/4* in; Central Park South, Chelsea, Downtown, Empire State Building Area, Hell's Kitchen, Lower East Side, Madison Square Garden, Midtown East, Midtown West, SoHo/Tribeca, Times Square and Williamsburg would be great but it doesn't look like you can split Brooklyn up.So, plenty of options I guess, would it be better to bid now or nearer the time?
thereuare Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 Nobody can say if rates will come down between now and your stay, or move even higher, but I think anything you get at $200 or less would be a 'good deal' for this 8 nite stay so i would begin bidding now. For a further discussion on timing of bids see the 'Bid Early or Close to Check-in' link in our PRICELINE FAQ.Let us know if you're ready to begin bidding now and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
