w1014 Posted September 3, 2012 Report Posted September 3, 2012 Hi,I'm new to PL bidding game, I wish to get advice for the stay in Nov in Markham area with 3 stars hotel, better have Holiday inn or same grade etc.. price willing start at about $55Thanks.
thereuare Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for. As well, HOTWIRE only shows one hotel at each star level per zone, so there is a chance the hotel you're hoping for isn't the one which is offered for your particular dates.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
w1014 Posted September 5, 2012 Author Report Posted September 5, 2012 Yes, I wish to proceed. Well so I don't need to be fixed on Holiday In, just wish to have 3 stars or above. Kindly advise more detail tips how to bid on PRICELINE?

w1014 Posted September 10, 2012 Author Report Posted September 10, 2012 W1014 again, as for the re-bidding zone, I can see only another zone that has no 3 stars hotel that is Scarborough - Pickering. Do I miss anther zone? Can you tell me the 3 bidding zone when bidding 3*?
thereuare Posted September 11, 2012 Report Posted September 11, 2012 If you're read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and are still confused, try the following...1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter 'Toronto, Canada' and your dates, and click "GO".2) List each zone that is offered in this region. 3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest star rating offered in the zone is by selecting the first zone i the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. Each time you take note of the highest star rating in the zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected above.4) post your findings and we'll take it from thereIf you don't follow the above just post back and we'll break it down further. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
w1014 Posted September 11, 2012 Author Report Posted September 11, 2012 yes, I did read that link: "Priceline Re-Bidding Explained". But it seems what I could see on the page displayed has somewhat different. Here are:1. when I try any link from this board intend to go to priceline.com, it brings up a "blank page" (I reported on my last message already". 2. You said you have sent me an alternate, originally I thought I've got it but re-check again that I don't think it is sent from you because I have received some promotion messages from priceline.com only but no message from betterbidding.com.3. As instructed, I entered 'Toronto, Canada' and dates, and click "search". (the "go" is not work, it seems only for "recent seach"4. I can see 3 tabs: list view, best deal, express deal, so I use "list view" and notice under this tab, it has 3 square windows from left to right : "hotel area", "Hotel Amenities" & "star rating" that I can click-in and bring up the pop-up for further selection. On "hotel area", I can see only 8 areas (including Toronto, on (all area)). 5. So I "Click" on each area and make a "check" on 3 stars on "star rating" windows. It then displays how many available hotels on that area. For "Markhma-Richmond Hill", it has 7 hotels. For "Scarbough-Pickering", it has 0 hotel. So I believe this is the "bidding zone" I can use because it has no 3 stars hotel. For other area (not zone as you said), they have 3 stars hotel so I don't I can use those area for "bidding zone".Anyway, I wonder did I go to wrong site? because it seems I cannot see what you have said in your instruction. Your help is much appreciated.
thereuare Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 This is the link i sent and you should be using: PRICELINE special link (please use this link once you start bidding as well)On that page scroll to the middle of the page where there is an area: " name your own price® - backed by our Big Deal Guarantee" and click the middle BID NOW (for hotels) buttonIn the form that appears enter Toronto and your dates and then the BID NOW! button on the formIf you followed all of the above, this should take you to the correct page where you can select/unselect the zones to see the star ratings.Let us know if the above puts you on the right track.
