Looking to stay 3*+ UES area at $200 per night budget. I'm also ok with staying in other "safe" zones suggested. Except Times Square. This is my first time bidding & iand have been studying the rebidding based on zones. :)

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

Are you okay with staying anywhere within UES? That zone can go considerably high up and not terribly convenient to Midtown - for example, the Courtyard Upper East Side is a possibility. Would you prefer trying to push towards a higher star rating (a 4* may be able to be had for moderately over $200 - (possibly around $225-240, depending on the zone) or would you rather try for the most reasonable 3*?

Additionally, the 3.5* CPS area does have the possibility of the Hudson (which has infamously small rooms - about 120-140 sq ft) and the 3*/3.5* levels in MTE do have some possibilities that are far E in MTE towards the East border of the zone. Would these be acceptable?

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Thank you for the reply.

I wouldn't mind staying anywhere in the UES. I'm thinking closest to the metro is best. MTE is an option. Again this is my first time in the city as an adult so I'm open to recommendations. I just want to be in a safe neigborhood and close to the park. I also wanted to check out the Chelsea market but not sure of the area.

I didn't want to spend more than $200 a night so I'm thinking trying a to bid on a 3* - 3.5* is my best bet.

I noticed several post have hotel descriptions being posted asking for help identifying the hotel. Where in bidding process do you guys see this? Is it after you place you max spending amount? Also once you do so are you obligated to choose one of the hotels listed?

Hi Jennifer,

Hotel descriptions are not given for the Name Your Own Price part (the bidding part) of Priceline. However, Priceline has a newer service called "express deals" which will list star, area and amenities. However, the most common place people are seeing and reporting the amenities is on Hotwire. If you use BetterBidding's link on the top left you will see that you can see what are called "opaque" listings which HOTWIRE calls "hot Rate deals".

Hope this helps you and happy bidding or buying and always remember to use the Betterbidding's links for PRICELINE and HOTWIRE and to report back to the board and let us know how you go.

Happy travels
