yvo01nne Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 This is my first time posting, so please be kind! I'm trying to book 1 room for 10/9-10/12. My dates are flexible between 10/7-10/13, so I can change my dates if necessary. I don't have much experience in bidding, so after reading your FAQ's I feel very comfortable bidding, I'm just not sure if the dates that I've chosen are preventing me from winning a bid. I've bid anywhere from $40-$63, with no success. Am I bidding too low? Or am I bidding too early? Any input is helpful. Thanks in advance.
AaronJB Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. What have you bid for in terms of zone/star rating/top price? With HOTWIRE showing a 4* for $79 in Anaheim South and 3.5* prices generally around that rate, I think you're probably quite close - I'd move higher slowly from the last bid that was not accepted ($2-3 at a time) and hopefully will get a win for not much higher than you've already bid.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
yvo01nne Posted August 31, 2012 Author Report Posted August 31, 2012 Thanks for your input. I've bid using Anaheim Hills 4* as a free re-bid zone, I've added North & South Anaheim, and still no success. My top price so far was $63, and I've only gone that high because someone else on here reported winning the Hyatt Regency for that price. I would like to stay under $70, and that's including using $9/night bonus cash. Am I being unrealistic? In the past, I've won the Crowne Plaza Garden Grove for $54, but I can't seem to win anything this time around. Thanks again!
AaronJB Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 Bidding is entirely date-specific, as dates can vary significantly from one day to the next - unfortunately, these dates appear a little busier/more expensive. If bids are not being accepted, you are not bidding incorrectly, it will just take a higher bid than your last bid.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
i5blazer Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 i would take your time. you still have plenty of time left. keep checking this site to see if anyone has won in the area and date you are looking for and go off of that. i would also sign up for priceline alerts under your account profile too see if anyone else if winning for your price range. although i havent had much luck with it myself so far
yvo01nne Posted September 5, 2012 Author Report Posted September 5, 2012 Thanks for the reassurance. I will keep trying, and not lose my patience! I know I have plenty of time but not knowing where I'll be stating is killing me! Name of the game though is patience!
smartlabelprint Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 Another good idea is to book a cancelable room at a price you can tolerate and try to bid again as your trip nears. At least you've got a back up that way!I found the red lion for 15% off and triple points (if you become one of their members) but they have $14/day parking and $1/day resort fee. I found the code from poking around on their website.
i5blazer Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 lol i have the same feeling a lot of times. but i always end up getting the hotel. yep lots of patience :D
yvo01nne Posted September 5, 2012 Author Report Posted September 5, 2012 I will keep trying then! I really need to book a cancellable back-up just in case!
