Used your link to look at HOTWIRE prices for 9/26-27 at DFW. A 4* is listed for $77 so I was ready to book.

BUT, when I was entering my information, I got a inquiry about also booking a shuttle t0/from airport

for $17.60 pp each way. What's that all about? I ASSUMED that "shuttle" meant FREE shuttle!!!

Needless-to-say, I did not book!

Technically the shuttle amenity can be for a paid shuttle, as per HOTWIRE's description:

Airport Shuttle

Property offers transportation to and from the airport. Shuttles may run during limited hours or require a reservation; an additional charge may apply.

(italics added by me for emphasis)

HOWEVER, i don't think that this is necessarily the case here, i think the more likely scenario is that HOTWIRE is simply try to sell an add-on product, regardless of whether or not the hotel offers a shuttle service or not. If you run your HOTWIRE search again and click any of the hotels in this zone you're prompted to purchase the shuttle service if you'd like (and certainly most hotels in this zone offer a FREE shuttle). As well, if you look at the description of the service:

Shared Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport Shuttle Transfer

Save money with a comfortable shared shuttle transfer between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and your downtown Dallas or Fort Worth hotel.

So this service is really designed for passengers heading Downtown, for which hotels in this area typically do not offer shuttle service. As well, this appears to be the same company/service provided by SuperShuttle... which is not directly related/owned by the hotel; so it's a third party service, not that the hotel offers a shuttle and that there is a fee.

If you are interested in this property let us know the amenities associated with the hotel and we'll try to identify it, for which you could then further research our guess to determine if they offer a free shuttle or not.

This is in the DFW North zone, correct?

If so, my best guess would be the Sheraton, which a second possibility being the Westin. (of course we can't guarantee it would be either and you'll have to be willing to accept your 'shuttle scenario' fear above, but i believe the scenario as i presented it is likely... also if you're arriving at any odd hours (after 11pm or before 7am be aware that some shuttles may not operate 24/7)
