Saltone Posted August 28, 2012 Report Posted August 28, 2012 We have two couples headed to Chicago that weekend for a get away. We would like to stay near Michigan Mile or River North. We prefer 4* hotel but may consider 3.5* What would the lowest price be? and how well could we do if we Bid on Priceline? Thanks!
AaronJB Posted August 29, 2012 Report Posted August 29, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. Please provide your desired budget per night for this stay and we would be happy to offer suggestions on how to proceed. Additionally, just to confirm, are you looking for two rooms? The Mag Mile area and River North area are within the same zone on PRICELINE - River North-North Michigan Ave. You can definitely try lower, but I'm guessing a 4* in this zone may take $200+ for these dates.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Saltone Posted August 29, 2012 Author Report Posted August 29, 2012 We were hoping for something for $150 or less.Do you know anything about the Sax hotel.
thereuare Posted August 29, 2012 Report Posted August 29, 2012 Do you know anything about the Sax hotel. Were you seeing this on HOTWIRE, trying to target it on PRICELINE, or thinking of booking this direct? (if the latter, what is the price)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Saltone Posted August 29, 2012 Author Report Posted August 29, 2012 There is a deal for the Sax, $189 per night with a coupon for two free drinks. I just don't know this hotel. We are going to need two rooms. This literally popped up as I was reading these threads yesterday I did no know if this a better deal than I could get on PRICELINE, I also wondered what this hotel is like. The other couple we are traveling with thinks we can do better. From what you are saying, probably not?
thereuare Posted August 29, 2012 Report Posted August 29, 2012 Rates could go up or down between now and your stay, making the deal above better/worse then you can get elsewhere, but based upon current rates at the moment i don't think you're going to do significantly better. You can certainly try bidding on PRICELINE and use $189 (or some similar) amount as your maximum bid in an attempt to beat the current 'known' deal you have. If you want to give bidding a try let us know if you want to bid only the NMA-River North zone OR if the Loop is acceptable as well... also, you want to stick with the 4* level and what do you want to set as your maximum bid? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. AaronJB Posted August 29, 2012 Report Posted August 29, 2012 The Sax is a well-located boutique property on the river, which used to be the House of Blues Hotel (the House of Blues is still next to it.) Easy walk to a wide variety of restaurants/nightlife in River North.I think you could definitely try $160-175 on PRICELINE in an attempt to see if anything accepts at the 4* level in the River North-NMA on PRICELINE and then take the Sax deal. Rates are unfortunately on the high side for these dates (and Fall this year in Chicago seems noticeably busier/more expensive.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
srbb03 Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 I have been trying to book a 4* or 3.5* for Chicago Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area and North Michigan Ave - River North Area but, haven't had any luck for 9/15 - 9/18. There must be something going on on those days as I've seen winning bids of a lot less than I've bid... :( Any suggestions would be helpful, trying to get less than $150/night.

Once September arrives, rates are generally more expensive throughout much of the Fall and early Winter (sort of similar to NYC, although not as expensive as NYC.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
