surie Posted August 28, 2012 Report Posted August 28, 2012 Hi,I'm planning to vist NYC 21 Sep ~ 26 Sep., I prefer to have 3* and up in MTE / MTW area around 150$+tax.1) Is it possible to get at that budget? If you can suggest another option of area, it'll be much appreciated.2) If I stay in NJ, where is the best area zone to commute by public transpotation?3) I heard prices are different from weekends and weekdays, so is it better to bid in divided dates? Thanks in advance to help!
thereuare Posted August 28, 2012 Report Posted August 28, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! You may save a little by SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID, but even for your weekend dates, at current rates $150 will not likely be enough for a 3* or better hotel in midtown. For the weekend dates you can likely get a hotel Downtown, but something in midtown will likely run you $200+.If staying in NJ the Hoboken-Jersey City-Weehawken is the best zone, but currently most bids are being accepted by the Sheraton Lincoln Harbor in Weehawken, which is not bad, but it's the least desirable 4* hotel in the zone, imo. The other 4* hotels have easy access to the PATH station which is a good way to commute to the city, whereas at the Sheraton you would commute to Manhattan via bus... the trip is not long, but traveling by bus you lose some of the "cool, i'm on vacation" factor and traffic going into the Lincoln Tunnel can be unpredictable. As well, the PATH train is 24/7 whereas the bus stops running at 1:30am most nites (depending how long you intend to stay out)Based upon the above let us know your thoughts and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. surie Posted August 28, 2012 Author Report Posted August 28, 2012 Thx for your kind reply! For me, location is the most important factor to choose hotel. If I step down 2.5* or 2*, is it available to find a place for me in that budget or should I increase the budget?
thereuare Posted August 28, 2012 Report Posted August 28, 2012 You can certainly try for a 3* property first, but at current rates, i think you're going to need to increase your budget even at the 2*/2.5* level. What would you like to try for first? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. surie Posted August 29, 2012 Author Report Posted August 29, 2012 Thanks, anyhow I need to size up my budget. Is is available if the budget 200$ + Tax in that period?I already tried some bid MTE / MTW upto 200$ for 4* but failed and I don't have any idea how to bid.
thereuare Posted August 29, 2012 Report Posted August 29, 2012 You'll have a chance at a 3* for ~$200/nite, but even that is not a sure thing, although it would certainly get you substantially closer. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.
