Ridiculous hotwire tax & fees?

I am looking at booking a Beverly Hills - West Hollywood hotel for 159.00 per night. Looking to book one night but I was stunned by how much the tax recovery charges & fees were. Tax should only be 14% but Hotwire is quoting 103.89 for a total of 262.89 for a 159.00 hotel room?! Is this right?

May be an error? What is the date of travel (so that we can take a look as well) and what are the full details of the listing (please provide the complete list of amenities showing with the listing.)

Maybe this has been corrected as I'm not seeing that level of taxes/fees when searching for 2 adults or 4 adults for a 4* in Beverly Hills/WH.

well they increased the price to 171.. taxes are still there

I am having the same problem! My tax and fee amount is not so high however it is disturbing that there is no breakdown explaining. When I did call to ask for an explanation i was told 3 times that nobody at hotwire knows. WOW!!!

If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages and click each of these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links.

You''ll find that almost all 3rd party booking agencies now bundle taxes and fees into one line item. Look at the total price of the hotel offered thru HOTWIRE and compare it to the total price of the best deal you can get thru a conventionally booked room... if the HOTWIRE price is a 'deal' then buy it and don't worry about how much HOTWIRE makes on the transaction... if it's not a deal then purchase your next best alternative.
