Hi, i'm from Brazil and I and my friend are going to do a observership at Cornell Hospital in NYC.

Last year my friends stayed at Carter Hotel, but I would like to stay in a better place.

Is it possible for $100-120/night?

Thank you all.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

The Hotel Carter consistently gets written about as one of the worst hotels in the city, i'm not surprised that your friend would like something better, and i'm not sure if he could do much worse.

These is an expensive time of year in NYC but surprising rates are not as bad as i had thought they would be. There is an outlier (meaning that it's priced significantly below anything else within its category) 4* MTE hotel that i think you may be able to get for $125-$145/nite if you can stretch your budget... otherwise you may need to drop your star rating to the 2* or 3* level and stay Downtown, but even then i don't know if $120 will be enough.

Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.

thank you for your answer.

MTE means midtown east?

How can I get this $125-$145/nite? You mean through priceline?

Let me know something, I'm bidding for 21 days, maybe it's easyer split this period?

Thank you.

This is one of the busiest periods of the year in NYC, especially the last portion of it (from around 11/25-12/8.) There is a 4* on HOTWIRE for these dates for $157 in Midtown East and, quite honestly, I'm rather stunned that that's showing (given how traditionally busy this period is and how long a stay this is.) If you could get a 4* in MTE using PRICELINE for this period between $125-145, that would be a tremendous success, given this period.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Yes, MTE = Midtown East.

We can suggest a strategy for you to follow, but are there any other zones that are acceptable? (i don't think you'll likely be successful in any other zones, but by having other zones to bid we can use smaller bid increments, which if you can save a few dollars in bid price can add up quickly on a 21 day stay)

Also, one thing to be aware of is that PRICELINE only guarantees that the room will accommodate double occupancy, this means that you could receive a room with only one bed to share. If you'd prefer a room with two beds you can call the hotel after you learn the name of the property and request a room with two beds, and/or request again at check-in, but there is no guarantee that the hotel will be able to accommodate your request (and this is especially true in NYC where hotel rooms are often smaller than elsewhere in the country and rooms with two beds are sometimes considered an upgrade from 'standard')

Let us know regarding the zones and we'll take it from there.
