Newbie here following a few discussions and getting ready to step toe in water to bid on Vegas North 5* for tues 10/9-10/13.

Saw the discussion on 5* North for previous weekend and figured I may have a shot at lower prices due to mid week booking.

Assuming 5* North is Wynn, Venetian, Palazzo. Would be happy with any of em. Does starting bidding around $100 sound right? High? Low?

Feedback much appreciated.

I've been bidding up to $190 for the 15-17, and haven't had any lucky so far on 5* North.

I checked directly with the hotels in that zone. it seems that week is extremely expensive for some reason. I was hoping the week before was a bit more normal.

Welcome to Betterbidding.

Please keep all posts regarding this stay within this thread.

The 5* North would likely be the Trump.

What would be your desired budget per night for this stay? 5* North, unfortunately, is likely going to be quite expensive for these dates.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Thanks for the patience. It seems paying the going rate for Caesars on those dates is around $155 per. I was hoping to get into the 5* North property for that or below.

Note that Caesar's is currently 4* rated by PRICELINE (and 4.5* rated by HOTWIRE) so not really an apples-to-apples comparison for your 5* bidding.

My guess is that it may take $165-$185 (or possibly more) for a 5* hotel in the Strip North zone for your dates. It's certainly worthwhile to try up to $155 if that is your maximum bid, but if you let us know your top bid we will suggest a strategy for you to follow (and star lower so you don't have any risk in overbidding)

I will add that you should be able to get a 5* hotel in the Strip South zone for well under $150/nite if that is of any interest to you.

Today i bid up to $150 for North Strip 5*. No luck. I'm not interested in the Vdara or Aria so I'm staying away from those. At that point I'd be happy to downgrade to Mirage or Caesars for a lower price (i know PRICELINE doesnt do Caesars). With over 6 wks left before my trip I'm torn between whether to keep trying to hit on the 5* North or just settle elsewhere. FYI, Caesars can be had for $145 for these days with discount code.

With rates at the 'known' 5* hotels in the Strip North zone at $350+ for your dates, i don't think your chances are very good at winning a 5* hotel at under $150... it would take a major price drop for you to to have a much of a chance. Vegas rates are some of the most volatile in the country, but at the moment your chances for a 5* are somewhat low, imo.

Bid $155 to $165 in $2 increments yesterday to no avail. I may wait a few days and try again while booking a refundable elsewhere. Will keep you informed.

You can try searching 'Las Vegas Strip' at our MAPS and HOTELS.com for help in finding something at retail that you can use as a refundable back-up reservation... just make sure you check the terms during check-out to make sure you're booking a fully refundable rate.
