racehorse Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 In the past two years we have gotten this hotel six or seven times on Priceline with varying bids from $20 to $24.Needless to say, it is close to a particular place we visit several times per year and we have found the Fairfield Inn to be an excellent value.Only one time have we gotten another hotel and it was fine, but NOT as good as this one.Normally I will NOT, and I mean WILL NOT bid on a 2*, having been burned in several Texas locatiions -- Ft Worth, Austin, San Antonio and Houston when I was traveling alone and price was the main object. I haven't bid on a 2* (other than this particular area of Dallas) in more than three years. However, I can highly recommend this one. Now, it is NOT an exclusive hotel, but simply very clean, relatively new, very polite staff, off the main street by a couple of blocks, and an excellent value for under thirty five bucks counting Priceline fees. This time, as usual, I have a fairly good leeway in time so I bid twenty dollars and was declined ... waited the three days and bid twenty one and was declined ... waited three days and just a while ago had the twenty two dollar offer accepted.Yes .. I know all about rebids using areas etc .. but this particular hotel is very close by where we need to go and our dates are set up a couple of months ahead so it works out well for us.Horse
thereuare Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 Thank you for sharing your winning bid with the rest of the board. What was the other hotel you won in this zone the one time you didn't get this property? Was that too a 2* property? If so, could you please post it so that we can add it to our lists (the Fairfield Inn is currently the only 2* we have in our lists for this area). Please consider posting all of your wins to the board, it would certainly help other users.Enjoy your stay and thank you for posting your results to the board.
