jim421 Posted August 20, 2012 Report Posted August 20, 2012 Hi,I'm looking to book a hotel in New York City between November 3-10, 2 rooms, preferably 4*. Would like to end up in Midtown East area, Grand Hyatt would be nice, but wouldn't have a problem with other good areas in NYC.What should my bidding strategy be and what could I expect to pay? Is it to early to start bidding? Should I wait until closer to my trip?Any advice would be kindly appreciated!Thank You!
AaronJB Posted August 20, 2012 Report Posted August 20, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. Just to confirm, are the date/s 10/3-10 or 11/3-10?What would be your desired budget per night for this stay? Additionally, please provide the full list of zones that would be acceptable.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
jim421 Posted August 21, 2012 Author Report Posted August 21, 2012 The dates are November 3-10 2012, 2 rooms. (Sorry for the incorrect information above!)Would like to stay in 200-250/night range if possible.
thereuare Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 I think you have a shot at a 4* hotel in the MTE zone for $250 (it will be very near this price if successful)... did you only want to bid this zone first up to your limit OR also include other 4* zones in hopes for a better price? At the 4* level MTE, MTW, TS, CPS and ESB all typically work well for the average user.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jim421 Posted August 21, 2012 Author Report Posted August 21, 2012 MTE, MTW, TS, CPS and ESB would work for us.Thank you for your assistance.

Or should I book a refundable hotel and be cool and wait for a while and retry later?

AaronJB Posted August 24, 2012 Report Posted August 24, 2012 The Chelsea 4* would likely be the Ramada Plaza New Yorker. The 4* MTE would likely be a match for either the Grand Hyatt or Intercontinental Barclay.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
jim421 Posted August 24, 2012 Author Report Posted August 24, 2012 Got the Intercontinental Barclay for $249 through PRICELINE tonight.
AaronJB Posted August 25, 2012 Report Posted August 25, 2012 Congrats on your success. :)Very nice win for this NYC property, especially for a week-long stay during a busy period.Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
