Priceline Hotel: "Recent Winning Hotel Bids" versus "Name Your Own Price"

Hi there,

I'm new to the hotel bidding rodeo. I've done some preliminary research but now I'm stuck.

I'm trying to get a 4 star hotel in downtown Vancouver BC for 8/21-8/23. Two days ago I bid $110 and was told that a recent hotel bid went for $133. This was an offer to me too. Maybe I should have grabbed it, but I didn't. Now the prices (24 hours later) for recently won rooms have jumped to $180. Is this right? (A Tue and Wed night?!)

What am I doing wrong here? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages.

The $133 information was received sent in an email trying to induce you to bid... or was it provided after a failed bid with some information as to "Normally you have to change some aspect of your bid or wait 24 hours, but if you're willing to raise your bid to $133 we'll let you bid again right now"?
