Looking for 3 rooms in downtown area( includes 4 to 5 zones) (3 stars and up) I been checking hotwire for a few days now and the price is around $160 per night. That look like on the high side!!! Is it something going on that weekend in chicago?

I remember i paid less than $100 or around $100 per room at the Haytt downtown last Sept.

Is the price just went up in general or i'm just too early to book?

Rates are higher this year, but rates also can vary significantly from day-to-day. There are a couple of relatively minor conventions for these dates.

Mid-September is not that far in advance from this point and I would definitely suggest starting to look at this point to lock something in. How many people are going to be in each room? Additionally, what would be your desired budget per night?

We will have total 12 of us going. Last year we have 8 so we have two rooms and this year we will have 3 rooms

Unfortunately, rates downtown look high for these dates - the cheapest I'm seeing on HOTWIRE is around $154 for downtown when searching for 3rooms/12 adults. Is the group 12 adults or a mix of adults and children?

At this point, unfortunately the options are really either waiting it out (although if there is something going on on these dates, rates may go up) or look towards outside the city, which would involve a commute but be vastly cheaper. Are you driving?

We are driving but we plan on parking the car once we get there and either Taxi or walk to most of the place. This is our 3rd year doing this.

Very nice deal - especially for 4 people - for a busy period. I'd try asking for a high floor - even if you don't get a room with a lake view (which is a paid upgrade), at least you may get a partial city view.
