nightfawl Posted August 17, 2012 Report Posted August 17, 2012 I am going to Vegas from 9/28-10/1 (3 nights) and looking to stay on the strip. I heard looking for something at Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South is my best option. Is that true? I am looking to spend MAX $75/night. Preferably less. Priceline has an option for Las Vegas Strip North, but I don't see a Las Vegas Strip South. Only Vicinity South. If I bid in this area for a 4* what prices would I be looking at and what Hotels? Excalibur? Thanks!

thereuare Posted August 20, 2012 Report Posted August 20, 2012 You can see the hotels already reported to the board in each of these zones in the respective Priceline Hotel List and Hotwire Hotel List. You do have a chance at a 4* hotel at a $75 bid price (although it might take as much as $85-$90), but keep in mind that this would be before taxes/fees and many Vegas hotels also now have Resort fees (~$25/day)Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. nightfawl Posted August 20, 2012 Author Report Posted August 20, 2012 Thanks for the info. Is there a list of hotels that have resort fees? And would that be added on top of my hotel price if I booked through HOTWIRE or hotels.com? If I want to spend $60-75 per night and be on or very close to the strip, what would be best option be?
thereuare Posted August 20, 2012 Report Posted August 20, 2012 Here is a list of Las Vegas Resort Fees which we reply on members to help keep up to date.Resort fees would be paid directly to the hotel and are in addition to your PRICELINE / HOTWIRE purchase. With HOTWIRE after you click the 'Show me' button (with the price in it) the ensuing page usually indicates an approximate Resort fee (if any) for that particular property (it's also mentioned again at the bottom of the page in the "Know Before You Go" section). With PRICELINE there is no way to know before hand of the hotel you'll receive has a resort fee, but with the majority of strip hotels now charging resort fees, i would expect a fee more so than not.I think $75 all-in for a 4* hotel may be tough for your dates, but if you're talking $75 before taxes, fees, resort fees then i think you have a shot. Is $75 your maximum bid price or 'all-in' price? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. nightfawl Posted August 20, 2012 Author Report Posted August 20, 2012 I'm hoping for $75 or less all-in. I don't need that to be on the strip but no more than a 5 minute walk away. Thanks!
thereuare Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 If you look at the PRICELINE map for this region (enter 'Las Vegas' and your dates into the BiddingHelper.com at the top of the board) are there any zones where the furthest point from the strip in the zone is a 5 minute walk away? (i don't believe there is, which makes it impossible to use PRICELINE and meet your criteria for a 5 minute walk away)With your budget of $75 all-in, take away taxes fees and your at $60/nite, deduct a $20 resort fee and you're not at $40/nite bid amount, which is not going to be enough for these dates which include weekend nites. You'll either need to increase your budget, lower your star rating, or be willing to stay further from the Strip... or book direct and choose a hotel that doesn't have a Resort fee, although i did use MAPS and HOTELS.com to take a look and found nothing at the 3* level or better that was under $75/nite all-in.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.
