allstar13 Posted August 16, 2012 Report Posted August 16, 2012 Hello,A friend and I are going to be in Vegas from 10/15-10/17 a little trip coming back from a San Francisco Wedding. I'd like to book two nights at a 5* North Strip Property. From the list it looks like the Wynn, the Palazzo, and the Venetian fit this bill.Could anyone recommend a strategy for me? I figure I will just keep adding areas without 5* properties and rebidding. But at what price should I begin my bid?Thank you for your help.
thereuare Posted August 17, 2012 Report Posted August 17, 2012 What is your maximum bid for this trip... this will help us determine a starting point and we can suggest a strategy to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. allstar13 Posted August 17, 2012 Author Report Posted August 17, 2012 That's a great question. I believe my max budget would be $250/night. But if that's not doable, I might try to figure something else out. I've just seen some of the awesome deals on here, and I'd like to try my luck, especially since we are going midweek. This is a continuation of my trip to San Francisco.Thank you for your help with this.
thereuare Posted August 17, 2012 Report Posted August 17, 2012 We can suggest a strategy for you to follow for just the Strip North zone if that's the only zone you want to bid on... but as an FYI a 5* in the Strip South zone can probably be had for substantially less. What i believe to be the Cosmopolitan is currently offered on HOTWIRE (only one room left) for $115/nite, and even if that disappears, a different 5* may be had for not much more than this... is the Strip North zone worth that much more to you then then Strip South zone? Please confirm and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. allstar13 Posted August 18, 2012 Author Report Posted August 18, 2012 Let me talk with my buddy. I know we would prefer the strip North, but if the Strip south is such a deal, it might be worth doing.
allstar13 Posted August 18, 2012 Author Report Posted August 18, 2012 So I tried for the North Strip today 5* hotels.I began bidding at $100 and upped my bid in $5 increments, topping out at $155. All bids were declined.I guess I'll try again tomorrow. These look to be the most exclusive hotels on the strip and for some reason the Monday/Tuesday dates of 10/15-10/17 are very popular at this point. Thanks for the help everyone. I'll keep you updated.

allstar13 Posted August 19, 2012 Author Report Posted August 19, 2012 I tried again today for the 5* North Strip properties.I began at $130/night and rebid in $5 increments up to $185. No luck.I'm debating whether to try for South Strip tomorrow, since I really don't want to pay over $185/night for a room.
AaronJB Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 I think you could definitely get a 5* Strip South for considerably less - there's a 5* Strip South on HOTWIRE for $124 for these dates. Given that you could possibly get a 5* Strip South for $90-115, although likely towards the upper end of that range.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches,
allstar13 Posted August 21, 2012 Author Report Posted August 21, 2012 I've never been to any of the 5* South Strip properties. Does anyone have any preferences for what's good over there? Complaints?I tried for 5* North Strip again today.I began bidding at $135, and increased in $5 increments to $190. No luck. For some reason that Monday/Tuesday combo is way expensive, and I don't know why. On other deal sites, I see the Palazzo at a discount of around $230. I don't know why it seems priceline is not having any traction.
thereuare Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 I see the Venetian at $249 but the Palazzo at $349.Other than the fact that the Vdara doesn't have a casino (the Aria is right next door and you can gamble there if you desire), I don't think there are very many complaints about the 5* Strip South properties.Let us know how you'd liike to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the requested PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board for all your bidding, searches and travel purchases.Thanks. allstar13 Posted September 13, 2012 Author Report Posted September 13, 2012 Hi everyone!I was able to get the Venetian for the above dates (10/15-17) for $165/night using Priceline.A great win for me. I started bidding at $135 and increased my rebid by $5 increments until I won at $165.Best of luck, and thank you for all your help!
