I have few questions..

1. when i went to priceline to bid for a hotel in Las Vegas I did not see the strip. All I can see is

Boulder Strip

Convention Center - UNLV Area

Fremont St. Vicinity

Henderson - Lake Las Vegas resorts available

Las Vegas Airport (LAS)

Las Vegas Strip Vicinity

Nellis - Las Vegas Speedway

Northwest Las Vegas resorts available

West of Strip

Which one is the strip?

2. How much do I expect to pay for a 4* on the strip (1 room)

Also, does it make much of a difference if i stay in the Strip vicinity as opposed to the strip.

Thanks in advance. As u can see, this is my first trip to LV. :)

Vegas Possible List of Hotels in Vegas

Priceline shows that the Las Vegas Strip Vicinity is an area around the strip and includes hotels that are NOT on the strip.

Useful links to maps

So you have to be aware that if you bid in this area your winning hotel may not actually be on the strip itself.

2. How long is a piece of string?

Prices depend on availabilty and inventory given to PL.

In your favour:

The later you try for a PL hotel in Vegas the better chance you have of getting a low price.

Not in your favour:

Weekends tend to be a busy time in Vegas as the weekend gamblers fill the hotels so prices are higher.

3 The strip is about 3 miles long so it depends what you want out of your stay as to if you actually need to be in the heart of things. Even then you'll be a long way from one end !

Thereuare will give you a strategy if you reply with :

Arrival and departure dates.

Star rating of hotel you want.

Maximum bid you're willing to pay (realise that this winning bid will have taxes added to it).

Number of rooms (you have said one)

Have you booked a cancellable back up hotel if you can't get a PL one?

The last point about Vegas is that it is sometimes easier to get a 'special price' from the Hotel web-site themselves during slack periods.

August (I believe) is a slack period so it may be worth looking at this aspect of booking a room.

Finally (thank heavens :) )

Historically lowest prices have been

5* "Venetian" $99

4* several hotels Alladin\Luxor $60-70

However these are ball park figures and the exact price depends on a lot of factors.

Have fun
