mdmtrof Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 Curious on when the cheepest time of year is for bdding on hotels for 5* strip hotel, we have no real time frame when we would like to go, we can go whenever. We have been to Vegas before but never used Priceline/Hotwire for hotels. We'd prefer 5* strip North for location because we have prefered that area in the past. Thanks!
AaronJB Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Late Summer can be more reasonable, as can parts of the Winter. However, Vegas often varies significantly from day-to-day throughout the year due to events, conventions and other things going on.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
mdmtrof Posted July 10, 2012 Author Report Posted July 10, 2012 Thanks!I'll keep those things in mond when we choose when we'll be going.
AaronJB Posted July 10, 2012 Report Posted July 10, 2012 Happy to help! :)Please let us know when you decide on dates and we would be happy to help suggest ways to proceed.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted July 10, 2012 Report Posted July 10, 2012 The week before Christmas is usually inexpensive too... few if any business conventions, and more people getting ready for the holidays, and have less disposable cash due to gift giving, then at other times of the year. Also, if you haven't yet, please read your messages.Thanks. mdmtrof Posted July 15, 2012 Author Report Posted July 15, 2012 Can someone help me find a 5* strip north price thats not Trump, I never see the option when checking hotwire daily. Am I doing something wrong? My dates arn't set in stone but around those dates would be great and looking for 5 nights. Also need 2 rooms on same booking.
thereuare Posted July 15, 2012 Report Posted July 15, 2012 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread.HOTWIRE only shows one hotel per star rating in the zone... the hotel with the lowest price is the one offered. As the Trump is usually the lowest price property in the zone, this is the one most often shown. To have a different property offered you would need to find a set of dates where the Trump was priced higher than the other 5* properties in this zone.Do you need more than double occupancy? If not, you can use PRICELINE which has the Trump separate in a different zone than the other 5* properties. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. mdmtrof Posted July 26, 2012 Author Report Posted July 26, 2012 We are looking to book 2 rooms Oct 1 - 5, 2012 5* Strip north location only, any ideas on how much per night we will have to bid? any help would be great.
thereuare Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. My guess is that you'll likely need to be somewhere in the $145-$165 range, but with so many re-bid zones available at the 5* level you can start lower (and finish a little higher) if you'd like. What is your maximum bid for a 5* hotel in the Strip North zone? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. mdmtrof Posted July 27, 2012 Author Report Posted July 27, 2012 I guess we would want to keep the total bid price to a max of $150 considering taxes and fees and also the resort fee for any of the 3 available 5* north stip hotel's. I can assume to pay max $30 resort fee per day correct? Also, is there a complete breakdown of the re-bidding zones for 5* strip north, or is it easier to go through each one myself confirming there are no 5* in each of the rebidding zones prior to starting my bids as it will be my first time attempting bids using re-bidding zones.
thereuare Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 Also, is there a complete breakdown of the re-bidding zones for 5* strip north, or is it easier to go through each one myself confirming there are no 5* in each of the rebidding zones prior to starting my bids...You need to know how to determine them on your own as they should be checked before every bidding cycle as hotels can be added/removed or upgraded/downgraded at any time. If we listed the re-bid zones now, then later today something changes and you then bid tonite, you could end up in a zone you didn't intend.See this thread on how to determine your re-bid zones and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm them with the board (NOTE: there are currently 11 re-bid zones when bidding 5* in Las Vegas) If you read the previous thread and are confused just post back and we'll break it down further for you. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. mdmtrof Posted August 2, 2012 Author Report Posted August 2, 2012 Just wondering if because I'm trying to book 2 room on one reservation, does that make it more difficult to attain a winning bid?
thereuare Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 Two rooms is usually a non-factor, but if it is a factor, it's to the downside. If the lowest 'opaque rate' in the zone is $100 and there is only one room available at that rate, and the next lowest rate is $110 and there are five rooms available at that price... your $100 bid for 2 rooms would be rejected since there isn't enough inventory to fill your purchase... you would need to bid $110 to win two rooms in this scenario. There are other possible issues/scenarios, but this is the most common and easy to understand. Were you able to determine your re-bid zones? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. mdmtrof Posted August 3, 2012 Author Report Posted August 3, 2012 OK, I understand the way you've explained it.We did use the re-biddng zone to its max capacity (11 re-bid zones) and worked great, other then the fact we didn't get a winning bid.We are not so disapointed as we booked a fully refundable room at caesars palace in their new octavius tower at a rate of $170 per night with all taxes and fees included (including resort fee, which is actually not being charged as part of their promo), so we will be able to continiue to bid in 5* north zone knowing exactly what are new max bet will be (around $135/night) knowing that after taxes and resort fees it will come to about the same as what we are paying at Cesars Palace. So we are very excited to continue to bid everyday until 7 days before our trip hoping to get Palazzo, Venetian or Wynn at a great price. If we don't get it we will be happy with the new rooms at ceasars.Anyone been in the new octavius tower at Cesars, would love to hear what they think!thanks
Romelle Posted August 3, 2012 Report Posted August 3, 2012 Have you considered bidding your stay as two 2-night stays, rather than one 4-night stay? When bidding for the longer time, you have to find a single hotel that has availability all 4 nights. When splitting your bid, you only need to find the availability for 2 nights. You could well end up in different hotels, but the 5* hotels in LV are so different and interesting that this could be considered a plus.RomellePS - You might find reviews of the Octavius Tower on www.tripadvisor.com.PPS - You initially asked about the cheapest time of the year. Most of the LV hotels have a rate calendar on their web sites. Also, places like Expedia show individual day rates. I can't remember whether they show a full month or just 2-week spans, but in either case it doesn't take too long to work through a period of time in 2 week queries. You do have the right idea with your Monday arrival and Friday departure, since weekends tend to be much higher. However, it is always possible to run into some extended conference.
mdmtrof Posted August 14, 2012 Author Report Posted August 14, 2012 Still working hard trying to get a 5* north strip property for a max bid of $140/night. Anyone have any luck around our dates that havent posted their winning bids yet? thanks!
AaronJB Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 With Venetian and Palazzo at $189 regular rate, I wouldn't go much higher. Any interest in the South Strip - a 5* would likely be at least moderately cheaper.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
mdmtrof Posted August 16, 2012 Author Report Posted August 16, 2012 Just won a great Hotel on Priceline. $140 a night for 2 rooms at Palazzo! exactly the hotel we were looking for, looks like prices are dropping for Oct.
