stopper345 Posted August 16, 2012 Report Posted August 16, 2012 Wow, hotel prices in New York for October. What can I say? It is very difficult to get anything less than $300 on a weekday. So I placed a bid for Sunday and Monday nights together in hopes of a good deal. I started bidding at $170 (since I saw a previous win at $170 for the Marriott on Sunday night) and rebid in $5 increments until I got a successful bid at $215. I tried to add an additional night but no luck. This is my second year bidding in New York in October as I have a conference there each year. Last year I was able to bid successful for the Sheraton Towers for $265 for Friday, Saturday and Sunday and used the conference rate at the same hotel for $359 for the weekday rates. This year the conference rate is $379. So my plan this year is to stay Sunday and Monday nights at Marriott Times Square for $215 a night (enjoy the scene there) and then move to Country Inn & Suites in Long Island City for $131 a night for the other weekday nights (use the subway to Manhattan). That is my strategy any how.I hope this information helps others. This forum has really helped me in my hotel planning. I would like to give back some useful information. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links.
