jenncw Posted August 15, 2012 Report Posted August 15, 2012 Hi,I need two hotel nights in Austin Check In 10-19-2012 Check Out 10-21-2012 while I am in town for a football game. Published rates for 3* properties are $300+ for downtown. Hotwire has a 2.5* property for $190 and nothing rated higher. What do you think I can realistically get for something in Downtown Austin via Priceline? I am fine with anything 3* and above. Do you think there is any benefit in waiting? Thanks!
thereuare Posted August 16, 2012 Report Posted August 16, 2012 The best rate i'm able to find for a 3* or better hotel in this area is the Sheraton Austin at the Capitol for $279/nite. Using this as a benchmark... how high are you willing to bid for a 3* hotel before considering lowering your star rating. If you are willing to lower your star rating there are some non-opaque options where you can pick the hotel beforehand and ensure that you're choosing one of the better budget rated properties:Super 8 Austin Downtown Capitol area for $95/niteDays Inn University for $118/niteLa Quinta Inn Austin Capitol for $199/nitePlease use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.... and please click each of these links before replying.Thanks. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
