Lindalin Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 Hello, I want to bid a 4* Downtown for under $90 for Aug 25 - Aug 31. I tried with upto $85, but still get nothing. Is this period busy time? Also, I have my car (driving from other city), so I can split the nights (e.g 4 days in town, and first/last day out town) if needed and for out town preferred with free parking. Any suggestions? Thanks, Linda
AaronJB Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)This is actually a somewhat slower period for Chicago. I'm guessing you're probably quite close - I'm thinking a 4* will take $90-100 + $20/25 for city parking and more towards $40-60 for hotel parking. My guess is that a 3.5* in the North burbs will likely take $45-50 + free parking. However, it's about a 35-40 minute train ride into the city (although the Metra trains are nicer than the CTA trains.)You could also do half city/half suburbs if that would be of interest, although this is a fairly slow period in the city.Let us know your thoughts and we would be happy to offer suggestions on how to proceed.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Lindalin Posted August 15, 2012 Author Report Posted August 15, 2012 Thank you AaronJB for the info. I'll wait a couple more days to retry it again. The idea is the first night and the last night in the suburb if needed since we won't have free time to visit any attractions on the first day and the last day anyway as we are from buffalo direction about 8 hours drive.
Lindalin Posted August 22, 2012 Author Report Posted August 22, 2012 Just an update on the bid:Bid upto $90 for Aug 25 - Aug 31 downtown, bids are rejected.Change the date to Aug 26 - Aug 31, first bid with $80 was accepted. The hotel is Hyatt Regency. Could have tried the lower price, but happy with the results. Still need to find the room for Aug 25. Use the PRICELINE link from better bidding. Thanks
AaronJB Posted August 22, 2012 Report Posted August 22, 2012 Congrats on your success. :)Very nice late Summer win for this Hyatt property, which is definitely centrally located. Did you try to see if the "Extend Your Stay" feature presented an offer for the additional night?Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
