wtribbs Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 Planning a trip Sep 14 to Sep 18. Had a bid of $125 rejected. Anyone know what it will take to win for these dates? <$150 or >$150? First time Priceline user and first time to the forum. Any help would be appreciated.
AaronJB Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Just to confirm, were you rejected up to $125 in the River North-NMA area on PRICELINE at the 4* level or 3.5* level?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
wtribbs Posted August 14, 2012 Author Report Posted August 14, 2012 Yes, bid of $125 for River North-NMA 4 star was rejected. Then added 3.5 star to the bid and that was also rejected by Priceline. What should be my next move? We want to stick to River North-NMA. I am willing to pay up to $150, but don't know if that should be my next bid.
AaronJB Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 I think 4* may not be possible under $150, but with the Doubletree Mag Mile showing for $157 on Hotwire, my guess is that you may be able to get a 3.5* between $135-145. I'd continue higher at the 3.5* level up by $5's at a time.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
wtribbs Posted August 15, 2012 Author Report Posted August 15, 2012 Bid of $130 was rejected by Priceline for 3.5 star only River North-NMA Sep 14 to 18th. Now Priceline is offering me the room if I increase my bid to $168. What is this? Is this a true blind bid or just away of booking the room like in a normal view? Thanks
AaronJB Posted August 15, 2012 Report Posted August 15, 2012 This is essentially telling you that if you bid $168 right now, you are most likely going to be successful. However, $168 is not what is actually needed for a win - it tells you that the needed rate for a win is somewhere in-between your last bid ($130) and the price given ($168). I'd continue heading higher by $5's ($135, $140, $145) instead of taking the $168 offer.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
wtribbs Posted August 16, 2012 Author Report Posted August 16, 2012 Bid of $145 rejected today for 3.5 star.
thereuare Posted August 17, 2012 Report Posted August 17, 2012 The 'right' price is somewhere between $146 and $168... how high are you willing to bid for a 3.5* in this zone? Are you familiar with, and using, your re-bid zones?
