Matt in Boise Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 Edit: title shows 8/13-8/14. Actual dates for this bid is 8/14-8/15.Bid on two rooms for one night. My first bid of $30 was accepted as a valid bid, but the bid was rejected. I got an offer to do a free rebid (no changes) if I raised the price to $36. I normally reject those offers and keep bidding, but given that the bid is for rooms tomorrow night, and there is only one free rebid zone for 4* in Reno, I decided to take it and my new bid was accepted.Hotel has a resort fee of $10/room/night, but I was planning for something like that, since a lot of hotels in Reno are like that. For those following the Reno area lately, this is almost exactly like a previous post I made. The day is one day later than my previous winning bid. This is due to a last-minute unavoidable change in travel plans. Both this post and my previous one are real, successful bids.As usual, I think I may have overbid, because my previously posted bid was $35/room/night and it was accepted, and I doubt Priceline ever offers a counter offer at the exact minimum did. Also, I was less confident in a bid less than $36 being accepted again, because someone else reported being unsuccessful at the same bid for $37 as a reply to that post. It should be noted that both of my bids are for weekday nights. The $37/night rejection poster did not say it was exactly the same night. (The same bid for the same star level in the same location a day or two earlier or later can make a huge difference, especially when weekend/weekday considerations apply.)For experienced Priceline bidders, probably the most important take-away from this is that my previous bid of less than $40/night for a 4* was not a fluke. Apparently, there are times when the minimum bid of $40 for a 4* does not apply.2 Rooms for 1 night $36/roomRoom Subtotal: $72.00Taxes & Fees: $17.60Total Charged to Card: $89.60
